I think alot of the industry will be rubbing their hands at the death of Neogaf for all the wrong reasons.

It's a double edge sword. One side of it, the nonsense and hypocrisy of the website is finally being brought out to the foregrounds. The other side, developers and companies can easily fukk over dumb ass gamers without a bit of wokeness from websites such as Gaf. The harsh reality is that Neogaf did stick up for the common gamer, but it should have been just that. It should have been about GAMING, with a bit of entertainment purposes on the side. Once the website went on an astroturf tip from gaming to politics, it was a lost cause. Posters who were grandfathered into the site from the days of trolling and so forth end up chucking the peace or getting banned. Then its just the lost circle of degenerates that have no insight of the real world.

As I said in a previous post, Gaf was a modern day Rapture designed for gamers and enthusiasts, but different ideologies and points of views ended up becoming their tomb.

Indies were hot a few years ago when PS4 launched. Now we 4 years imto the gen, plenty of good AAA games can be had at discounted prices. Not to mention PSN having sales every other week. Basically who gone buy indy when you can buy AAA for the same price

The problem with indies was over saturation followed by lack of moderation for games that were shyt and games that are incredible. No Man's Sky ended up being the final straw for gamers due to the fact that it started out as a indie game but ended up being a AAA title with indie tendencies. After the empty promises and the rough launch of the game, it was a wrap for indie games in general. Its unfortunate because I remember copping a Xbox 360 just for indie games in general. It's just the beginning of the end for video games in general because of all of the toxicity, the same ole shyt, and big time companies not realizing the true purpose of what made gaming great.

If you make that advance and she rejects it and you back off how is that sexual harassment? If that's the case then sexual harassment would be determined by how she responds to your advance rather than the advance itself.

Not all AA/AAA games do what indie games do. For example, where are the good AA/AAA arcade-style baseball games like MLB Slugfest or Mario Sluggers? RBI Baseball is garbage. Indies fill that gap. Super Mega Baseball 2 is one of my most anticipated games coming up for that reason.

Arcade-style sports games basically don't get made anymore by anyone except for Nintendo and indie developers. There are a lot of niches that indie developers fill. For example, the best twin-stick shooters are all indie games. No big AAA developer is going to make something like Assault Android Cactus.

Indie games aren't worse because they have lower production values. It's all about gameplay.

How was he letting people be racist? It was my opinion that majority of gaf was being fake in regards to race, but I never noticed it openly allowed. Like you’d see obvious dumb shyt when it came to video games characters or subject material.

Would not be surprised if indie devs suffered from this fallout. Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, Transistor, Hyper Light Drifter, The Banner Saga, Shadowrun (Harebrained Scheme series), Cave Story, Iji, and so many others. I would have never heard of them or given them a chance had it not been for GAF. Cosmic Star Heroine? Was made aware of its Kickstarter campaign on GAF and backed it. I don't check out GameSpot, IGN, Polygon, Waypoint or whatever.

100% Gaf was huge for indie devs
Look at Golf Story recently. That was a Switch eShop exclusive that got next to no promotion except for people in gag hyping it up. It became one of the top eShop titles mostly on their hype.
Gaf was a great place to talk about more obscure games and RPG's.

Wario64 is legitimately the only Twitter account I follow. I owe my SNES Classic pre-order to him along with multiple deals on pricing errors

The most hilarious thing is the system they have set in place to become a member is like that "to keep out trolls" meanwhile the site had plenty of other problems that were kept under wraps. I noticed the random racist posts on there too, glad someone else called it out.
Folks were getting banned for dumb stuff but I never saw someone get banned forworthy posts.

For anyone who didn't notice it: a lot of it was 'slick talk' or at least they thought it was.

I remember when Civ 6 was marked down to 20 dollars by accident last year. Gaf was on the prowl but I couldn't get the game due to the site going to crap
