"In 1974, police estimated that roughly 2,500 Brooklyn youths were participating in a sophisticated extortion ring. Some local businesses worked openly with the gangs; Tony's Theater on Sutter Avenue printed cards that entitled any Tomahawk to free admission. In the summer of 1972, members of the Black Hebrew movement B'nai Zaken (Sons of Ancient Israelites) formed a Brooklyn version of the Family, uniting fifteen gangs and five thousand youths under their control with aims to teach the Torah and self-defense. According to police, B'nai Zaken supplied guns to Tomahawks and Outlaws for a cut of the money they made extorting local stores. Gang members who could not obtain real guns made homemade "zip-guns" that were crafted from ballpoint pens and could shoot .22 caliber bullets."

NYC dudes don’t even have masculine voices like this anymore. These a$$holes really putting shyt in the water.
Do they sound like tha myplayer off 2k18?:mjlol:

They sound like down south dudes. :dwillhuh:
Alot of them old school nikkas talked like they parents who were from down south & moved during tha great migration. Some even migrated late and spent their childhood down south.

One ny nikka whose accent was country af was Eddie Murphy. Which confuses tha fukk outta me cuz his older brother sounded like a true blue ny nikka and his family was from tha Caribbean. Where tha hell he get tht shyt from?:ohhh:

I’m for real and it’s not limited to NYC either. Listen to old audio and you hear the difference in men’s voices compared to now.

Yeah that's basically vernacular and cadence. The way English is spoken changes through the years. You wouldn't expect a black person from 1920 to talk like a black person in 2018

yeah, i noticed a lot of older black folks from NY will switch from a southern accent and then a NY accent fluidly :skip:

its almost like code switching.

Al sharpton and Peewee kirkland are some NY brothas that still sound like they come from the south.
