WWE has been trash for a while. Ratings were in the toilet thanks to the year of Authority/Seth with nothing really breaking up the monotony.

Maybe they should have pulled the trigger on Reigns/AJ/KO earlier than wasted so much time with Seth/Orton, Seth/Dean, etc.

Kliq has this dork up at 3am writing dissertations like he has a research paper due in the morning. :mjlol:

Kliq stays losing.

Deny what facts? Some phony accusations that the downturn of the business is the kliqs fault? Naw. Everyone knows shyt is where it is now because WCW dying, the bungled invasion angle/Austin heel turn, Rock/Austin leaving, bad PR mishaps, and the inability to create a transcendent star. This whole thread is to deflect blame as usual when smark darlings are failing miserably in top. And now amount of corny nonsensical remixed smilies can change that.

Triple H isn't a bad heel, nor Stephanie. The problem is they never fully build a face to take to them down and when someone does when it's never executed well enough you fully feel that they got what they deserved, so in way they still come out on top. Their egos and refusal to look weak seems to always get in way. It's bad entertainment. That's always been his problem.

Nice recap. As I always suspected, kliq stay ruining everything and Cena is the man when done right. Vince fukks up good things (original ECW got me into wrestling heavy). 2008-ish were really bad WWE TV. I completely stopped watching from 2010-2013.

But HHH must have followed Michael and became born again, because he's thinking clearly. In about a year, ratings will go up again. But they never cared for my culture or interests, so I don't care for the industry or sport anymore. Dirtsheets always been more interesting than actual tv show to me. CWC and peek of NXT kept me watching though.

Part 1

WWE has been in the news lately for RAW's ratings decline and there's a number of factors like easier accessible on the internet, Hulu, YouTube, people cutting cable, increase in population, there's no way to pinpoint one single factor, they all add up but I thought it'd be interesting to look through the years and see what was going on then.

We see our first ratings decline in 2001. the average rating is 4.64. The previous couple years the ratings were well over 5. My guess:

- WCW folds in February. With no competition and nothing to compare WWF to, some things start to stick out like sore thumbs.
- Invasion angle starts following WrestleMania and it's a disaster. WWF punks the WCW talent and stars like Sting, Goldberg, Steiner, Flair etc. don't make the move.
- Stone Cold is the hottest babyface in the company, him and The Rock. Stone Cold is turned heel for no reason and is singing and reduced to a chickenshyt heel.

2002. Average rating is 4.01. After the WCW debacle and the Austin debacle, Austin ends up leaving for a while due to creative differences. The Rock is becoming more of a movie star, part time talent and is gone for a while following SummerSlam. There's a brand extension. Smackdown! ends up becoming the better show with guys like Rey, Eddie, Benoit, Angle, Edge, Lesnar throughout the fall and into the new year.

2003. Average rating is 3.76. Another big decline. RAW is focused around Triple H vs. HBK as the main feud (Booker T is the WM :mjpls: feud ). Goldberg is brought in but is never built as the monster he was in WCW.

2004. Average rating is 3.67. Evolution is in full swing. :sas2:

2005. Average rating is up to 3.81. Batista is built up as a new star and John Cena is brought in to replace everyone as the face of the brand. John Cena is still doing the throwback gimmick.

2006. Average rating up again to 3.90. Ruthless Aggression in full swing. Cena and Edge. Also everything surrounding ECW and them receiving their own brand.

Everything starts to seem like it's heading in the right direction.

But then 2007 happens. Average rating is down to an all-time low. 3.61. Worse than the Evolution days But why? A number of factors at play.

- John Cena began doing his MARINE gimmick last year but in '07 he's full on corny, no edge left to his character at all.
- ECW is a failure. Cokeboy completely destroys it and Heyman walks away. It's nothing like the old ECW. RVD who had seen a resurgence is punished for getting caught with weed with Sabu.
- Then the Summer comes and Chris Benoit decides to murder his family :demonic:

2007 is a turning point and a year they would never really recover from.

A lot of people also underestimate the move to TNN. There's a lot of other factors but there is a clear decline post-TNN move.

Also I think you need to look at the highest rated show in 2001 and see how low 2016's highest rated show is to really show how far WWE has fallen.

The silver lining until the last couple years is that they were able to grow globally while losing in the USA.

Say word. Punk is a prime example of this company having something hot that was transcending the sport and making wrestling seem cool to people who bounced. He was the man that summer and they bungled it all because of ego. There was absolutely no reason for triple h to beat punk in that feud. And there was no reason for him to be beefing with trips to begin with. Or Kevin Nash :russ: but rather than just let the company get hot, they got in their feelings about people tuning in because this guy was basically saying the product was stale and boring and in need of rejuvenation. His popularity was an indictment on them and they took it personal
