Jeanie doesn't wanna fukk with Jerry West because he had beef with Phil.....IIRC Phil wanted to trade Kobe but Jerry was like hell nah....

Jerry also is known for issuing ultimatums if he's not getting his way.....Jeanie don't wanna deal with that shyt.....but most of all it's a Phil thing

So Kobe gonna hire the Agent he fired for one of the premier positions in basketball? :beli:

Well Arn is a high powered agent. Definitely big time and he works out of LA. His agency was bought out by Wasserman Media Group and he's Vice Chairman there now. He was or possibly still is Pau's agent so Jeanie has a rapport with him I'm sure.

Fired actually wasn't the right word to use. Kobe *switched* to Rob as his agent. Rob was still working for Tellem's company when he initially started representing Kobe. So I dont think Kobe and Arn ever had a falling out, Kobe just became close friends with Rob and gave him a chance.

You know what's funny tho????? ....all this talk about how Rob is an a$$hole and no one wants to work with him. Well just now I looked up exactly when Kobe switched from Arn to Rob (around 2002), and i found this article with an intersting tidbit....

Los Angeles Times - Page unavailable in your region

Despite his growing portfolio of clients, Pelinka has remained beholden to Bryant since they became intertwined in the summer of 2002. With a year left on Bryant's endorsement deal with Adidas, the cornerstone of Tellem's marketing strategy, Pelinka terminated it, ultimately agreeing to a reported $40-million Nike deal after a year of strenuous negotiations, according to officials at two companies that were involved.

Nike officials made the deal despite being annoyed by Pelinka's conduct during a meeting with Chief Executive Phil Knight.

"He really talked down to Phil in the meeting," a Nike executive said.

This guy Rob has BEEN a piece of shyt. Almost ruined a Nike deal for Kobe....in 2004 no less when he was at his most vulnerable as a celebrity figure. The guy is bad news and is only relevant because of Kobe which goes back to my initial theory that Kobe along with others is heavily influencing Jeanie behind the scenes.

Some notes from Sam Amick interview on ESPNLA today:

-My understanding is Magic will be replaced at some point. After that, I dont know what means for Rob Pelinka

-You need to hire POBO definitely before Coaching hire. That option is kind of not there for them cause if that do that, good coaches may not be available to them also.

-Timing was very tough when Magic stepped down

-Lakers are doing good job of keeping intel behind closed doors

-Did hear Lakers never even called David Griffin

-They are shooting for higher people than David Griffin. I don't know names but they feel they can get any interview they want. Don't know if going after elite will bear any fruit, but interesting names that are being tossed around

-Is it real possibility someone is guiding them from shadows? I have heard that yes, but I don't know how much legs it has.

-Kobe has tons of influence on jeanie and this organization, he was apart of her firing her brother.

-We have noise of progress on coaching front but not much clarity every where else

-Jeanie will pull out every plan in the playbook to make things right, I think

Chris Carter is saying if the Lakers get Masi from Toronto that it pretty much guarantees Kawhi is coming with him.
