Everyone wants a white doctor and white lawyer. And they were the only ones who had access from 60s until early 2000s. Now you're starting to see more diversity. The same, if not not better, information and verdicts could be had with a black or POC professional. Time will change that I think.

A lot more black people are looking for black doctors now that we are aware of just how much racism exists. Black women are especially looking for black doctors since they have the highest complications and deaths during childbirth. A lot of them are also looking for black midwives as an alternative, because from what I hear, they do not treat black women well in hospitals.

If I wasn’t squirmish, I’d have been a doctor. I can’t be giving needles, and slicing people, and seeing blood, and shyt.

I thought about something less invasive like dermatology, but even then people have abscesses you have to pop.

What the article is trying to get at indirectly is that you should be mad at professional governing bodies for artificially increasing wages of these professionals such as physician by limiting supply to the point where there's not enough doctors serving a community. This is especially true in rural areas and smaller cities. All of this is in the name of giving doctors more bargaining power when they negotiate payments with insurance agencies or governments in countries like Canada. A doctor isn't a rocket scientist most professionals should be able to learn and apply what they get taught in medical school.

What field is this doctor in and what type of employment is he or she in? I have heard of a salary like that for simply treating patients in clinic or performing surgery.

$3 million is definitely rare but there are a handful of "superstars" or doctors that had their own practice then got bought up by a hospital system that routinely makes more than $2 million per year. If you got to a top tier hospital chances are there are a few attendings clearing multimillions a year. The richest doctors are typically orthopedic surgeons, a $500k offer straight out of residency isn't uncommon. I know one orthopedist that is also collecting royalties from an instrument company and makes a total of $4 million/year. Established plastic surgeons in big markets can also clear a million regularly. The partners where I am at made 900k to $1.1 mil the past few years and there is more room to grow.

I know a few black men in the $2 million to $2.5 million dollar range and the average person that sees them would never ever know it. it is pretty interesting to be an "average joe" while collecting a seven-figure paycheck.

The average salary posted on here is more typical though with specialists making around $400k to $600k, primary care docs around $200k.

Doctors are notoriously bad negotiators, this is why nurses and PAs have crept into the profession and why insurance companies dictate our pay. You are absolutely correct that being a doctor is not rocket science but it takes a different type of mentality that is fukking rare, especially in surgeons. Many people think they want to be doctors but they aren't willing to make the sacrifice.

One thing I've noticed is that most black people around here who live in really really nice houses, seem to be doctors or dentists.
