In 1999 we selected a French big man named Frederic Weis number 15 overall

The next pick was the hometown kid Ron Artest

In 2017 we selected a French guard named Frank Ntilikina number 8 overall

A couple picks later was the hometown kid Donovan Mitchell

Just saw the box score for tonight’s game.

How can they be THIS bad?

Like Frank played 20 something minutes without scoring or assisting ONCE

And Hardaway Jr was 4-16

Hornacek getting replaced soon or what?

Lets not forget the most important thing...

The Bulls won, theyre now 2 games behind us

The Hawks, Magic and Kings have all won 4 of their last 10 games

8 teams worse then us at the moment. We have some opportunities here, i couldnt be any more happy with Hornacek and the team right now. Theyre doing a great job. 7 straight losses, keep them coming :feedme:

Actually, a bit better. But he's still overpaid. Way Overpaid.

Seeing how productive he can be, I wouldn't mind it as much if he was the only bad contract on the roster. But he isn't.

Noah's dead weight deal is eating up our cap space. Lee has 2 years left AFTER this one on his contract, @ around 12.5 mill per year. Lance Thomas has 2 years left, 15 mill total left due to him.

Then you got KOQ and Kanter, both due for contract extensions (and/or pay raises). Love what they've done for us, but would rather let them walk then sign either one to bad deals (presuming neither one gets traded).

Bad deals hamstring us from making deals, create roster imbalance and logjams, which can also mess up player development, which the Knicks already struggle with.

We stuck with Noah, will be interesting to see what they do in the offseason in regards to Kanter, O'Quinn, Lee, and Thomas. If they truly committed to developing the youth then a couple of these dudes won't be back next season.

As an aside, hopefully whatever max deal they give KP when his time is due is heavily insured and highly incentivized.
You think Lee has a bad deal?

Whether or not Priogni agrees to come back as an assistant to help the young guards, someone I would love our young guards to work with would be Rod Strickland, especially in regards to tightening up their handles. Wonder what he's up to these days :lupe::patrice:

Got a bunch of young guards on our team, so its not like having both would be overdoin it

Fam, I REALLY like that idea. The one I kept coming back to for Frank specifically but would fit with Mudiay too has usually been Chauncey Billups. Frank has shown flashes of post up moves that he will absolutely be able to get off against PG's with his height. Billups was smart and crafty without having to be the most explosive in the league and it took him a while to learn all the tricks he did (also...he had Larry Brown). Now that Kidd's fired, I wouldn't mind him either. Priggy Smalls really endeared himself and has the euro connection, but in terms of guys I'd be even more hype about. Strickland, Billups or Kidd all fit that bill.

wait is that a good line-up to tank? or trying to win?

Fam, it's somehow both. Hornacek logic, it's probably an attempt to win by covering for Beasley and Kanter being horrendous defensively but Lance is so deficient on offense that it won't matter (also he's not actually good enough to cover for having no interior defense). So it's good to tank, but he's trying to win. The worst part is that moving Lee to the bench threw the Mudiay/Frank tandem out of wack one day after they were really successful. It probably wouldn't have changed a damned thing, but it's just bizarre that those two worked really well together and then he had Mudiay/Lee be the first backcourt unit off the bench instead.

Jeff Hornacek’s incompetence really can’t be stressed enough.

So Mudiay and Frank played 28 minutes together against the Pacers and looked good together. Everyone’s buzzing and excited and wants to see more of the duo. It made sense to just start both of them (why not?) and/or maximize the amount of time the two are on the court together.

Instead he stars Lance for no reason whatsoever :dahell: and brings Courtney Lee off the bench for the first time this season.

This just adds another SG to the bench rotation. So Mudiay comes in at the 6 min mark of the first and Frank comes in a minute later. They play the final 5 minutes of the 1st quarter together, the only minutes they shared the court together.

The team is on a 7 game losing streak and is 6-22 over the last 28 games and he STILL is refusing to play the young players. He lost Willy. Dotson is still warming the bench. Kornet got a double double in his first NBA game and he barely is off he bench the next 2 games. Frank’s minutes are constantly messed around with like Hornacek is intentionally trying to sabotaging any momentum he has.

Lance has a worse PER than Frank yet he has started 22 games this year.

Not only is he a shytty coach but he’s destroying the development of the youngsters, which is even worse. He needs to be fired before he does any more damage. :francis:

Knicks have deeper issues in regards to developing players. The organization is terribly set up, that's why I hazard calling Frank a bust. Anyone we selected would've had issues.

However, the league is turning more toward player development with the salary cap no longer rising, limiting free-agent additions.

Last summer, Mills hired Craig Robinson, his former Princeton teammate, away from the Bucks to be player development director.

Some NBA executives have observed the Knicks have a well-stocked scouting department under the new regime, but not enough developmental coaches. One NBA assistant recently pointed to Ntilikina’s modest development this season as perhaps a cause.
