Him and Burke not getting minutes is what makes it hard for me to be stay active in supporting the Knicks.
Lance Thomas and Jack should be faded out of the rotation as we end the season. Dotson should get Lance minutes.

If Jack didn’t play today we would have Frank and Mudiay at about 30 minutes and Trey would have got a solid 16 minutes out there.

They actually EMPHASIZED the two young guards!? I swear that was a perfect gift for my bday weekend.

If the FO is really gonna push with Frank/Mudiay as the 1/2 and KP can get healthy...well damn, we could be piecing together not only a promising young team but one of the most imposing teams. That's a height and reach advantage in three positions. God forbid we hit the lotto for a top three pick and landed a Bagley or a Doncic to rock in the midst of that kinda size. So much of this depends on player development now that I'm still nervous but if the Knicks are gonna play the kids these kinda minutes going forward than I'm gonna be extremely happy.

Now the misnomer:
Don't ignore the youth's flaws just because they're young but don't lose patience either. Frank's not ready to handle lead guard duties, that doesn't mean he's gotta be a 2 guard for the next 10 years. Mudiay's jumper is still pretty ugly, that doesn't it hasn't improved markedly over the past couple of seasons. When you take shots on these kids, it takes patience to see what direction their games will take. Let's not pigeonhole these cats or start dismissing them when things get hard. I'm gonna be annoyed with Mudiay's defense for a while but I see all the room in the world for him to improve there. I'm dying for Frank to be more consistently aggressive, but I'm speculating that'll come as his handle is tightened up with offseason reps.

Last bit: New key to the tank is prolly keeping that Beas/Kanter frontcourt together. We're not overcoming that defense inside.

Recaps making a full comeback soon...finally worth close watching the Knicks again!

More good news.

Again, I want to wait until the end of the season to give my full analysis of Horny's work product this year.

This is the same coach who had this team over performing into the power rankings.

If he sees the writings on the wall and continues to do right by our young guys - that's something to be praised.

I read a report that the Knicks are looking to try and add Prigioni to the coaching staff again to develop the PG's in particular. I love it. The bad bit in that article was that we're apparently lacking development staff right now and need to build that up to which I say "that explains a lot but also WTF."

Prigioni:mjcry:

Yo if they can get him on the staff and he pass on that knowledge to Frank and Mudiay, gonna have them catching dudes sleeping on the inbound:banderas:

How in the hell do you lack a development staff? Wasn’t most of the dude who came with Fisher praised for development and we let them go:shaq2:

@storyteller happy belated breh.

The Knicks have three point guards aged 25-and-under who need grooming, particularly 2017 lottery pick Frank Ntiliikna and 2015 lottery pick Emmanuel Mudiay, who made his Knicks debut versus the Pacers Sunday.

As a result, the Knicks are considering bringing aboard former point guard Pablo Prigioni as a developmental coach, according to two industry sources.

Prigioni, 40, was on the most recent Knicks’ team to make the playoffs — his NBA rookie year in 2012-13 when the club went 54-28.

Team president Steve Mills offered Prigioni a job last summer, but he turned it down to become head coach of Baskonia of the Spanish League.

That lasted three weeks as Prigioni stepped down with a 2-6 record. According to a source, it was not just basketball but family issues that caused him to resign.

Prigioni, who played for the Knicks from 2012-15, was lauded for his cerebral game, his playmaking and ferocious on-ball defense during his career. He also played for the Rockets and Clippers, in the Spanish League and Argentina’s national team.

Bringing in Prigioni would be a coup to mentor Ntilikina, Mudiay and Trey Burke, the 25-year-old 2013 lottery pick whom the Knicks signed last month.

Prigioni is in New York this week after being invited by the Nets to spend a week with them. According to a source, he’s learning all phases of Brooklyn’s basketball operation.

It’s unclear if the Nets have interest in hiring Prigioni. They also have three intriguing point guards in D’Angelo Russell, Spencer Dinwiddie, and the injured Jeremy Lin. One source said Prigioni is “exploring” whether he has a desire to be a personnel man.

Last summer, the Knicks fired developmental coach Joshua Longstaff, considered Kristaps Porzingis’ guy, and never replaced him. Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek felt the team had enough assistants.

However, the league is turning more toward player development with the salary cap no longer rising, limiting free-agent additions.

Last summer, Mills hired Craig Robinson, his former Princeton teammate, away from the Bucks to be player development director.

Some NBA executives have observed the Knicks have a well-stocked scouting department under the new regime, but not enough developmental coaches. One NBA assistant recently pointed to Ntilikina’s modest development this season as perhaps a cause.

One of the oldest franchises in sports history doesn't think this be a good idea to sure up in the off-season??

To go over topics I'm reading here. Timmy as a sixth man isn't a bad thing. Done right he is a easy 6th man of the year candidate for the rest of his contract.

Knicks need a SF, but if they really about that 2019 wave. Then you got to add making a run at the top FA Giannis to that plan. In that case go best player available that could fit alongside both him and KP. Though I will keep it 100, Doncic, Porter, Both Bridges, and Knox should be the plan regardless if Giannis is the longterm goal.

For the Knicks if Porter is there or they win the lottery (lol) Doncic obviously you take them because they have superstar potential. However, Mikal Bridges is my odds on favorite if we get in the 5-8 range. Not the best shot creator but he reminds me of Otto Porter. A great piece that could come in and contribute quicker (which should be the goal if 2019 is the wave) and is a 2 way player out the gate.

Mudiay
Nitty
Mikal
KP
Kanter

Bench
Timmy
KOQ

That is a good look if our Back court can develop into starter quality players. That's not a bad squad to try and lure Giannis with. Especially if they can add another high level rookie.

On a good/winning team, Timmy would be a 6th man/spot starter. And you're right, if done correctly, it'd be a role he'd thrive in.

Also keep in mind, a competent franchise wouldn't be paying a guy 18-20 mill a year to come off the bench. I can't think of winning team, outside of Portland, that's paying role players that much loot. Not my money, but if you want to go after Giannis, or any other star/superstar that might be available in 2019 free agency, can't have contracts like that eating away at your cap.

I noticed in your projected line up/rotation, Kanter and O'Quinn are still on the roster. Unless both those dudes are willing to return at a considerable discount, I don't see how you can keep both those dudes and Timmy and still have enough to go after Giannis. Didn't even mention Noah's dead weight contract, hopefully bought out before then but with this organization who knows?

Kanter and O'Quinn both have player options for next season. Kanter's player option is for abt 18 mill, he'll most likely opt in. Kyle O'Q is for about 4.5 mill, he probably won't opt in for that amount when he can get twice that amount in free agency. You already paying Hardaway 18-20 mill over the next 3 yrs, Lee has 2 years left at about 12 mill per annum....if you want a realistic chance to land a big time free agent in 2019, at least 3 of these guys will have to :camby:.

he still trash dog.
he was over performing cause KP is KP. we're 1-8 without him....and he still wasnt maximizing what we could have got out of him offensively.
