I tried to stay up for this one but kept nodding off like the Knicks big men on defense. So no close watch but some random observations:
- Trey Burke should prolly just start. He's aggressive, the rest of the team stopped caring two weeks ago and even though he's just as bad as Jack on defense at least the kid has more in the tank.
- Willy with solid minutes in 15 but his defense is just as bad as Kanter's.
- Ron Baker started
- I'm sure Doug appreciated the one charity minute he got as much as Noah did his 4 minutes before. If we're keeping score, KOQ is the only Center that hasn't had an issue with Jeff so far. This right around where he lost the team in PHX too.
- KP's been looking like he's starting to find his legs again but the foul trouble muted his impact.
- How bugged out is it that someone as athletic as Plumlee manages to look like the doofy version of Jokic out there?
- Gary Harris was unstoppable
- Frank has the smoothest form for someone who can't buy a bucket I've seen.
- This road trip has really exposed how bad our entire team is at dealing with screens down low. Any action with players criss crossing across the paint creates complete confusion. Communication issues, lack of effort, being unsure whether to switch or stay to their man...these issues were around early in the season, disappeared for a while and are back again.
- Coach has lost the team, players are barely trying out there and our youth is collectively regressing. Perry and Mills need to make moves sooner than later. Can't afford to wait until the last second like the Melo trade; the situation right now is detrimental to EVERYBODY when we should be growing pieces for the future.
- To that end, I propose moving everybody to the G-League
. Dotson had 4 points in 1 minute off a G-League call up, Burke had a double-double. Frank, KP, Willy, Baker, even Doug and Kanter have all stagnated or straight up regressed since early performances. Our G-League staff is better at developing the kids than our professional staff that's making millions
