Eh, Kanter is 25, Willy is 23, they have the same birthday month as well. It's not that big of a difference, both are on KP's timeline to be honest.

The six years difference in NBA experience and the 16 million dollar difference in contract is the difference maker to me. I'm not enthusiastic about so much salary committed to players that have us teetering between an 8th seed chase and a tank.

Who do you want to trade then?

Lee and KOQ still seem like the ones most easily moved for value.
At this point I'm talking to Kanter about his plans with his option year and going from there. If he's leaning toward opting out, he's on the block too. If he's opting in, wait until he's an expiring to revisit the conversation.
Guys who I don't think will be easy to move would but can do without are Baker, Lance and Noah.

My preference is to go fully in the tank. I'd love Frank, Dotson, THJ, KP, Willy to be our post-deadline starters. That gets our foot in the door of a top five pick, gives reps to all the young guys to show whether we should focus development on them or not and means that we've dropped some long term salary for future flexibility. A 2018-2019 opening day line-up of Frank, THJ, (Signee), Bagley, KP or Frank, Doncic, THJ, KP, Willy would leave us with long term franchise pieces and incoming cap space to chase compliments in the offseason before we supermax KP.

This all assumes the Knicks don't go on a run and put the post season into a more locked in spot rather than a "we just might" position. They have one last chance to run a nice streak right now before the schedule turns and becomes a lot tougher heading toward the new year.

Exactly, except I think you move KOQ either way. It opens up the logjam and he stands to draw value even with his uncertain contract situation. Kanter having potential to chew up 17 million in cap space next season or walk means that I doubt teams would be willing to commit much to get him. If we could dangle him as a true expiring next year though...then that could turn into something really valuable on the trade market.

our cap situation is trash until noah is off the books
same shyt with tim to a lesser degree
if kanter keeps playing at this rate, id give him a three year deal to further evaluate him
everything expires in the same year and we take it from there
id rather have kanter at 17 putting up a double double den willy on a cheap contract stinking it up
