If Willy's talent demanded a starting position, I believe he would be a starter.
Is it possible that the Knicks requested Kanter in the trade because they viewed him as a better player?
I think Jeff may have lobbied. He talked after a game recently about how he had worked with Kanter in Utah and was excited to get him. That would explain why in just a few days, Kanter skipped a line of three eligible C's and got immediate starter time. Willy earned the opportunity through his play last season and he put quality minutes in with Spain this offseason. I think he should have gotten a real chance to take the starting spot and Kanter should have had to earn it, but at this point Kanter has earned his spot and Willy's back where he started last season. Behind two guys on the depth chart and needing to find ways to be an instant impact player with guys he hasn't played minutes with in a good chunk of time.
