A bank accidentally put $120,000 in a couple’s account. Then the pair spent most of it, police say.

Take the 120k to the casino; double up; then give them they money back; now you REALLY got 120k for free.

Thread got me dying. Yeah these people are dumb but they didn't "Steal" shyt. They "Given" that money by accident, but it was Given, not Stolen.

If my chick accidentally dropped off money to your mail box & I showed up 2 weeks later with goons like "you stole my money" dudes would be like :stopitslime:. They shoulda known that money came with consequences but they ain't steal that shyt.

It crosses over to you stole it when you don't attempt to either return what doesn't belong to you or find out what happened to make that money appear.

This isn't too much different than somebody you know accidentally leaving their wallet at your home and you going into their wallet taking out their credit card and buying stuff with it. When you take that wallet and keep it knowing it isn't yours that's the point you cross over to stealing.

You might not have physically taken their wallet from them but you also had the opportunity to give it back and decided to keep it. That's where the theft occurred.

I know what you're getting at & the shyt is totally different.

If you forget your wallet at my crib I'll put it up somewhere. If you give me your wallet by accident I'm not aware of, I didn't "steal" it. Bottom line I didn't take your wallet, you gave it to me.

Like in my example it was a mistake but nobody would say it was stolen. They'd be like dumb bytch gave it to breh.

This is all symantics & white people with power covering up the fukk up. Somebody else said good semaritan shyt, exactly. Stealing says "take" this shyt was given. This is a grammar debate.

If they gave it to you then you should be able to contact them to confirm that right because you weren't expecting it. What do you think would happen if $120K popped up in your account mysteriously and you contacted the bank to confirm it was supposed to be there? Why do you think they didn't confirm it but instead started withdrawing and spending it? Why do you think they spent so much of it so fast?

What I'm saying is the theft wasn't the fact that the money was placed there the theft happened when they took it out knowing they didn't put the money in there account themselves. If the bank accidentally took $120K out of your account and refused to give it back I'm pretty sure you're gonna say the bank stole it from you wouldn't you? You're not just gonna chalk it up as a mistake and move on.

These people knew what they were doing. There's no way to spin this. It's not good samaritan shyt to not spend that money it's common sense.

Already agreed common sense says leave the money alone & spending it was stupid

Simple truth. If my girl wrote the wrong number & put my money in your account & you spend it. Nobody would say you stole it & the bank wouldn't give a fukk if I got it back. We'd be on judge Judy arguing payment & how stupid my girl is. This exact shyt happens to average people & they didn't get hit with felonies.
