Gods Stepson joint always rubbed me the wrong way

God's Son album was a personal album dedicated to his recently passed mother
9th shoulda had more self awareness not to do that shyt....but the Nas hate was palpable at that time

And this project amplified the bad beats narrative. Before that it was a general "He needs to take back to Illmatic chatter" which Stillmatic and Lost Tapes kinda deaded in the streets. It also didnt help that the notes/comments he wrote about doing the project were about the production than the themes, kinda dimissive.

This here.

At the time, people on SOHH and elsewhere were going crazy for 9th and saying Nas should've just let him do God's Son's production officially. Nas was getting killed for his production on that. So 9th started this thing where dudes started trying to remix whole Nas albums. N*ggas did a whole Nastradoomus project because they didn't like the beats on Nastradamus. Every project starting with I Am had people sh*tting on Nas's beats.

Life Is Good and Magic are the only two Nas projects that haven't had to deal with constant sh*t talking about the production. 9th just made the narrative even worse for bro with this joint. That's why Nas doesn't like him, lol.

Yeah, at least DOOM actually had self awareness that Nastradamus was ass dumplings, and had to be blessed with his beats.

9th the epitome of a "check me out fam" ass producer that would sample a Jim Jones mass suicide just to get heads to sign him to a 360.

Ems version while was typical Em on the boards, actually felt like a cohesive theme to a underrated album imo.

This is why Phonte and em don't fukk with 9th :francis: .

It makes a whole lot of sense that The Minstrel Show was Tay's vision, while 9th was just the "make my beats fakkit" type of dude.
