Okay and? I'm a Black American and Caribbean too and I love researching about Ancient Chinese And Rome history. Your point?

I think I am being misunderstood here. I celebrate my direct ancestors. I'm not going to get into a historical tug if war over the remnants of Egypt.

Interesting. I never knew the Romans actually wanted to claim the Ancient Egyptian legacy. I always saw that they were obsessed with the Greeks.

Indeed. Not only that, but they NOW have to claim Ancient "Nubia" which they regarded as the inferior black copy & paste of Egypt. This is mainly due to finding out that Kemet is all, but just an cultural transplant of "Nubia". Do you know the Kemetians welcomed, "Nubians" such as the Kushyte due to them bringing the Kemetians into a Renaissance?

Yes Rome claimed Egypt too. Julius Caesar fathered a son with Cleopatra. The child was named Caesarian.

The next question is do you know anything about Egypt?

What I find funny is that White people with Northern European roots can talk on and on about the greatness of Rome and Greece; even though those are Mediterranean societies that enslaved Northern Europeans and often times referred to the Northern Europeans as naked savages and barbarians. Yet those Northern Europeans have no problem trying to claim some legacy of the Greeks and Romans even they are not descended from them.

Then we have someone presumably of African Ancestry, who is probably descended from Egyptians; but proudly states that they don't talk about Egypt. We live a in a crazy World.

The likelihood of me being a descendant of anyone of North East African stock is highly unlikely.

To say Ancient Egypt was the greatest civilization in a general sense is definitely an opinion, not a fact. It is a fact however that they were the greatest architects the ancient world has ever seen and probably the most expressive spiritualists in the artistic sense, and lets face it, everybody loves shiny things. "Lore" wise I'd say they are on par with Asia as a whole.
lol? Shiny things? No one was even mentioning that. Forget shiny things, I'm talking about the Egyptians being the first to use paper, but more importantly the very alphabets on the keyboards that we are using have roots to an Egyptian writing script?

Comparable to Asian lore? Show me the books, games, movies, comics, media attention, etc on Ancient Asian civilizations. The Egyptian lore is greater. When those 19th century scholars first walked into Egypt it was like they were walking into flipping Disney World.

I know we all love to hate on Greece, but you can't just handwave their contributions to philosophy, modern government, literature, and the sciences overall away and gloss over their significance. When it comes to things like that AE doesn't come close to having anybody beat, tbh.
Hate on GREECE!? I love Greece. They actually respected the "blacks" of antiquity and I'm actually about to a thread on that.

And I think you're laying it on a little thick, where are all these white people that dikkride Greece like that? I don't really see them. The average American doesn't think beyond 1776 and European whites rep their countries as hard as anybody else. You saying that because we study them in school? I don't think the average white person really cares about ancient Greece.

You missed the entirety of my post. White people in general just like everyone in general doesn't care about history. I'm talking about promoting their history in films and such. But my main point was if White Americans who are NOT descendants of the originators of civilizations such as Greece/Rome can have an interest in that then why can't black Americans have an interest in Egypt?

To be honest everytime this topic comes up I get feelings it's some plant from the cia starting this frivolous divisive argument

They were in the middle of the malcolm x and Elijah muhammad split

They stuck they nose in and infiltrated the black panthers and begun pitting panthers from the east vs panthers from the west.

They were behind the east coast vs west coast beefs to kill 2pac.

Now we having a east africa vs west africa discussion all the time.

Starting to feel like we getting played.

Then you are not descended from West Africans as you have claimed. Either you are not Black or you don't realize that Arabs inhabiting North East Africa right now are actually 7th century invaders.

Btw, there are still Black Egyptians. Anwar Sadat was a Black Egyptian.

Besides Egypt, there are hardly any Arabs inhabiting Northeast Africa. If you're referring to Sudan me and others been over that topic countless of times that it has become tiring.

Just saying.

Those are Arabs. They came on the Mohammadian conquest from the East.

This is fine, but the fact that we are having this back and forth in the first place is indicative that your statement that AE is the greatest civilization ever is an opinion, not a fact. There are others in the historical field who I'm sure feel that way as well, and they may dedicate their lives to studying the subject. Others who don't will study other cultures and civs.

I'd say the average American is more or less equally familiar with AE and Asian lore through the mediums you've mentioned.

Also, from this statement it seems we've come upon this notion that has been discussed in other threads - Weighing the worth of a civilizationor culture using the opinions of 19th century European scholars as a scale.

I don't see white people promoting their history as a monolith at all in films, let alone as "Greek," that's all I'm saying. Other than that I agree with you.

Maybe I over-exaggerated. But out of most the civs I listed AE has arguable the strongest influence on the world.

What I'm trying to say is the Western World(which is the most influential we must agree) promote AE lore more than Asian lore. I mean I can't tell you how many comicbook characters are based off of AE myths like Black Adam. AE gods like Horus, ISIS, Amun, Seth, etc are highly fictionalized in entertainment compared to Asian gods like Vishnu.

I mean for crying out loud the eye of Horus/RA is extremely popular even appearing on American bills.

True, but the main reason why you won't see Asian gods in media like that is because those religions are still very much alive today and taken seriously by billions of people. I was speaking more in terms of overall familiarity with the lore as a whole. But when it comes to influence on the western world in general, yes AE is top dog. No argument there.
