I feel like Porter is Spence's first real test without any asterisks attached

- In his physical prime or close enough to it without any previous injuries or major ass kickings (Brook)
- Not undersized, but a big physical strong welterweight (Mikey)

You can rank Brook and Mikey above Porter, but he definitely brings certain intangibles they lacked that will challenge Spence differently than he's ever been challenged before.

I still favor Spence, but I look at it like a 60/40 fight. I feel like footwork will be a factor. I think Spence will be better off going right at Porter. I think it'll be a much closer fight if Porter has to be the aggressor. I don't think Spence has the ring agility or footwork to out maneuver Porter cleanly for 12 rds. He'll eventually end up trading on his backfoot if Porter traps and mauls him.

I feel like this fight is gonna be rough, mean, and down right nasty. Spence don't take any shyt and Porter is a super competitor . We might get a FOTY outta this.

Worst case scenario, Porter can't figure out what he wants to do like in the Ugas fight and we get some bullshyt.

Very similar to how I'm thinking. I'm favoring Spence but I have no doubt Porter WILL make it rough for him in spots. Unless making 47 has finally took its toll on Porter as @patscorpio might be right about as well, I don't see anyone steamrolling him. It will be competitive as long as it lasts. Also Porter already looks in phenomenal shape so I don't think he'll have any weight problems

I think we are gonna learn more about Spence mentally than his actual skills. Spence is talking shyt to Porter and Porter aint really ever clappin back. Either Spence is that confident in a win or Porter is trying to play mind games with him and get in his head to get him to stand there and allow an inside battle.

Porters best bet in this fight is incorporate a lot of that ugly, brawling style he’s reeled back from the past couple fights . Sprinkling in heavy dose of that outside work like what he was doing against Danny and Ugas, I don’t see working against EJ.

Porter's struggles with cutting weight has been publicized, and I truly worry about the toll it'll take on him. Especially when he's going up against a killer like Spence.



I was watching these highlights the other day. Spence going to the UK, Brook's city, for his first real step up in competition. I remember Brook looking sharp early, but he was taking a lot of punishment on the inside, even in the rounds he was winning. Spence fought how Porter wish he could fight, able to sustain a vicious inside attack without smothering his own work.

The way Brook landed his right hand makes you wonder if that's what Mikey wanted to replicate in his fight vs Spence.

Brook could have very well been on his way to a grueling decision victory, but the bodywork paid off and Brook lost his grip on the fight late.

I see people keep menitioning Porters foot work and Spences lack there of......we haven't even seen Spences full array of tools, I believe spence has the ability to use footwork he just hasn't had to, he showed flashes of how quick he is on his feet and toes in the later rounds of the Lamont Peterson fight. Porter will be the one having to use that foot work with how good spence is at cutting of the ring. When spence makes shawn porter look basic as fvck....I hope yall don't come with no excuses like how yall doing with Kell Brook and Mikey.
