Why should a PC run games at the same performance levels when they are not stripped down to play on consoles? You have much higher budgets for console games and mandatory optimization so it could run decent frame rates. Where do you think games are developed on? and the fact that all of those games that were shown yesterday where on ran on a Pc should tell your ass something.

The only thing it would need is more ram, this new system is much more in line with PC architecture than anything we've had before. The 360 was close, but was still PowerPC based, this bytch is x86. You talking about 3-4 years? madness.

im a pc stan and i am getting PS4 day one. these specs, the features, and that controller have me sweatin'

sharing video of your games easily, a controller that has innovative features but doesnt cross over into being gimmicky, all that fast ram being unified for whatever the developers want it for

if you are hating on this, you just are not a gamer. the features they mentioned werent some family entertainment room bullshyt like netflix and chatting about american idol in real time or whatever, it was all extra stuff to make gaming more fun or social.

I i'm guessing their next system is just gonna be low power and cheap, with some motion centric gimmicks. They might copy sony and try for a social gaming angle, but IMO they wanna keep this blue ocean strategy rolling they have going with Kinect. shyt's gonna suck probably, but

First party Sony games will look amazing cause they'll throw money at the developement like it's going out of style I really liked Sony's conference and all the features they showed, the graphics were just about what I expected too. I'll definitely cop a PS4, Sony knocked it out the park to me.

It's really bad, to the point the multiplatform games could have an even bigger gap between them than PS3 and 360.

Lets say somebody out there gets crazy later on in the PS4's life, and has a game that is using 6-7 gigs of ram for graphics, if the 720 actually reserves 3gb for just the OS/Apps then it'll run out of headroom and they'll have to start dialing down the effects and texture quality. And that's not even taking into account the difference in ddr3 and ddr5.

Why do you say that? That instant resume, play while downloading, recording while playing features is going to need a lot of memory breh. I'm not a developer so I don't know what could actually fit in memory, but I'd imagine it'll eat up a lot of resources.

Yeah, that was the best thing about the whole conference was the attitude. People buy consoles to play video games. Consoles are pretty much drifting into being HTPC's anyway, but there has to be a UI and hardware based with the pure intent of a gaming vision. Now that the Wii dropped first parties are thinking that it might be a good idea to bring some unique aspect to their games in terms of the platform its on. Obviously that makes things shytty for multiplatform developers (and everyone is multiplat now) but they seem to have balanced it out somewhat by making an exceedingly friendly architecture for developers. I still have my new gaming rig on the horizon to replace my laptop(my GT240, dual core, 4gb ram aint cutting it anymore) but i will certainly think about purchasing a ps4 in the future and i cant say that for any other platform

That's what I liked about the conference, it seems everything Sony is doing right now is geared towards gaming first, even down to adding more ram which is what developers wanted.
