sad, when you think of it we really are blessed, you could easily be born to a single mom living in a poverty and repeating the cycle, or ins ome desolute place

People make it seem like all the people in the OP got plucked away to the South or Upstate, I haven't went up to The Bronx on a regular basis since 2011 and only times I went though the area in the OP was on the 6 train, and its in the tunnel when to goes though Hunts Point so you can't really see anything...
The only truly fukked up people I see IRL in NY are homeless people. And there usually scattered on the streets or subway here and there.

It is very easy to never come across this in NYC.
Reason being the places where these people are, are areas nobody goes to unless you live in that slum. Places like Hunts Point, the South Bronx, Far Roc, Brownsville --Nobody goes there unless you actually live there.
And with all the gentrification all you see is cleaned up streets and new condos, so you forgot junkies, street walkers etc still exist.

I went though all those areas multiple times [except for Hunts Point] and TBH, the only real "bad" element of those areas is the goons/gangs/stick up kids, etc. If that element didn't exist then those areas would be a pleasant place to live.
Thats everyday life, struggle makes you stronger but they aint doing it right

i work all over the bronx, spend alot of time in hunts point doing electrical work. ive seen some crazy shyt. seen a landlord getting his cack blown like a porno by two hookers behind the building broad daylight. seen a junkie break a window of a car slide in and shoot up like it was nothing. seen old drunks fight each other with sticks and whatever they can grab off the sidewalk. seen junkies get a hit of dope and lean so hard youd think they was held up by invisible wires. seen one vomit cuz shyt was too intense and the other junkies harrass him to know where he got the good shyt at
