We are who we are buy luck and randomness...

Your choices and behaviour patterns were determined for you from the point of conception...

(1) Your parents DNA determine your natural predisposition...Theirs were determined by the people who came before them...Scientifically, on some level, your thought process and behaviour was determined for you the day the first human appeared on Earth...And probably even before that...

(2) Then you are born into an environment you have no control over...By the time you are 13/14 years old, you already have a strong foundation of thought and behavioural patterns that were programmed into you without your consent...

NO human being is responsible for the way they turn out...

It's all random...Because the Universe doesn't give a fcuk...There is no master plan...

this is bullshyt. you should read:

It makes me sad when people treat homeless people like shyt. I saw a vid of a homeless guy who cried in it because people treat him like garbage just because they see him as a lesser person. He's human like any of us, but his life is just a bigger struggle.

:manny:

I mean, those stories are typical where I came up....Where do you live again?

This actually kind of reinforces his point
have you read outliers? because it talks about predetermined outcomes, which is what nineteeneightysix is arguing. gladwell posits that even those born with favorable dispositions are not promised fortune. a host of external factors well outside of our own genetic makeup and family background contribute to our paths in life. one of the stories is about a guy who was as smart as anyone, with an intellect that ranked up there with einstein. he failed at life, achieving nothing of note. it's deeper than what @nineteeneightysix argues.

Please give me a conclusion and summary of what that book claims...

I don't like to read fictional books...I want to see scientific research that backs an author's opinions...

it's non fiction and a really good read. a brief summary: the author, malcolm gladwell, proposes that success is largely disconnected from the choices you make, being more a result of propitious circumstances surrounding you at certain moments in your life. bill gates, steve jobs, and more are talked about in the book.

It's good that you have the option lol some of these people were thrown out as kids...or, basically had to take care of themselves.

True! I'm very grateful for having options in life.

My philsophy is when you lose something you gain something. Sometime it's hard to see what you gained.

For example: You lose your eyesight due to acid thrown at your face. You gain clarity in your sense of smell and more awareness in your hearing.

There are benefits to being homeless but the losses seems to outweight the gains, but I believe they do have something we don't have.
