My boy owns a transportation service, a graphic design company, and has a corporate job. Lives with his parents , his brother, his bro wife.. some kids. and an aunt.

He said that he only has to pay his cell phone, splits the heat --- he makes like 120K.. and he's just starting off, a young nikka like 24/25. Saving madddd money.

I wish that I had a fam like that. :why:

he makes 120k a year though.

and if he making that kind of dough and is only paying a cell phone bill then he is a damn leech and aint shyt
So whose fault is that

:stopitslime: ur talkn to the son of an african immigrant and rural south carolinian. get this shyt out of here.

at some point, someone in here is gonna admit teaching money management skills is not the job of public schools. at some point, someone in here is gonna admit that their parents failed to provide them with the proper perspective. Saving is as much about number crunching as it is about having the right mentality.

Either way…..

Everyone has to deal with debt. When we try to play the blame game about this paycheck to paycheck thing, we're really talking about what individuals deem "disposable" income.

I want to see these statistics broken out by marital status, age and (i'm scared to say it) race/ethnicity.
man get the fukk out of here with all this money management shyt.

Its damn near impossible to manage your money on 30k a year.

its not enough no matter how well you keep track of whats going out.

To be fair, you can live decently on 30k if you don't have kids and live in a cheap city (ie. not NY or LA). Location matters a lot.

This is why there is no universal livable wage because not everyone lives the same places or has the same amount of responsibilities.

We're pretty much going to be in a situation where it's 3 or 4 people in their middle age living together in one house because they can't afford to live on their own.

They don't teach 'money management skills' because school is purposed to make you both a consumer and an obedient employee. The fundamental problem with America is that it is governed by corporations whose sole motto is to make as much profit by virtually any means necessary. There is nothing in there about maintaining the welfare of the American people. People in other nations were complaining about our corporations screwing them over and now the chickens have come home to roost and we're on the receiving end. We are mere 'human resources' to these entities, to be utilized in a fashion that extracts the maximum amount of labor for the lowest possible price... and given globalization, corporations can shift labor markets in the blink of an eye and make worldwide labor compete for what limited jobs there are, thereby drastically lowering wages.

If you don't have entrepreneurial skills, you will be screwed because even if you have a decent salary, your salary is not keeping pace with inflation. It is going to be harder and harder to operate on a 'fixed' income. A variable income will be necessary. People also need to hire each other more instead of purchasing from these massive corporations.
