It's in the system's best interest to keep us divided.
It puts a hole in some of the manosphere talk tho
I wouldn't be shocked if the number is increasing each year. So many engagements.
I want them to compile more data for the past 5 years.
I think I posted this a while back in response to some youtuber talking shyt about black women and marriage.
Because blacks delay marriage it skews our marriage rates.
It’s just another example of whites lying on us until it’s true.
I wonder how many in our race used these flawed studies as a way to shyt on people in our community.
It’s just like the deadbeat dad shyt.
I wonder what the updated stats look like AFTER a decade of “masculine hair hat single black woman ” propaganda.
I’m automatically skeptical of the overwhelming majority of studies and research produced about us, from STDs to abortions to poverty. It wouldn’t surprise me if they lied about the actual number of blks in America to ensure we always seem disproportionately disadvantaged.
70% unmarried stat was based on a small age range mostly in the 20s and i believe even teens.
bw do get married later in life, mostly 30s/40s. so yes i can believe it jumps from 30% to 75% from 20s to 30s age range
But the Honorable Kevin Samuels said only 1 out 4 black women get married.
Call into his show and set him straight
nah for real it would be interesting to see a stat based debate rather than the usual 'I feel like....'
Looks like "Post before you read the article" squad in this bytch.
The article states:
“The often-cited figure of
42 percent of Black women never marrying includes all Black women 18 and older,” Toldson told The Root in 2011. “Raising this age in an analysis eliminates age groups we don’t really expect to be married and gives a more accurate estimate of true marriage rates.”
One, the article begins with them telling you their 75% number is skewed for this article. And doesn't define "age groups we don't really expect to be married."
You can get legally married at 18.
Then, it throws in a number about small towns.
This article is poorly written.

Moguldum
And the auto play of the video of feminist Jemele Hill
Sure, this article is super unbias /sarcasm.
The article should read;
Out of the black women who get married...75% of them marry before 35.
Here's what the Root link actually reads;
Most black women do get married. The ABC News/Nightline article "Single, Black, Female" presents this stat: "42 percent of U.S. black women have never been married, double the number of white women who have never tied the knot." True, say Toldson and Marks. But their independent analysis of American Community Surveys data from 2000 to 2009 shows that among black women 35 and older, the percentage that have never been married drops to 25 percent, meaning that a solid majority (75 percent) of black women get married before they turn 35.
"The often-cited figure of 42 percent of black women never marrying includes all black women 18 and older," Toldson says. "Raising this age in an analysis eliminates age groups we don't really expect to be married and gives a more accurate estimate of true marriage rates." Same data, but significantly less scary.
Again, the Roots admits the 42% number is true and they never tell us what age range they're actually looking at.
But their independent analysis of American Community Surveys data from 2000 to 2009 shows that among black women 35 and older, the percentage that have never been married drops to 25 percent, meaning that a solid majority (75 percent) of black women get married before they turn 35.
This makes zero sense and they just get off on throwing percentages around.
So, because--between 2000 to 2009--you found that 75% of black women over 35 are married, they that means only 25% of them are never married despite the fact that from 18 years old and up only 42% of ALL BLACK WOMEN are married????
Mothafukka 75% of
42 is 31%!
Again, ya'll don't read the article or the links and stats.
Instead of ignoring the problem (it's the white man's numbers!) or reading ONE article and letting confirmation basis take over...how about he actually fix this issue?
