It's all facts.

Black people mostly marry other black people.

When blacks marry outside their race....they mostly marry people on the same level. Idris Elba is not wifing Mama June. He either marries a sista or a white woman in the same ballpark.

Educated blacks get married THEN have kids. Blacks with less education? It gets murky as fukk. People tend to have kids and then have to fish around a bit to find a good match.

I think the point they are making (very poorly) is that there's a myth.....that Black women with education/money can't get married or are too picky.

The idea that success makes Black women less inclined to get married. They want to show that success does not stop Black women from getting married.

Problem is that those numbers would only be useful if comparing BW to WW/Asians etc.

My guess is that successful WW and Asians get married at a VERY high rate so it undermines the premise of the article.

They should have just compared Black women to themselves at various economic levels. White women are almost always going to have higher marriage rates because their culture pushes them to marry even when they probably shouldn't. Whites marry but divorce A LOT. Immigrants will marry but actually stick it out.

Census shows a little less than 25% of black women are married. But OPs stats are indicating only 25% of those marriages are at age 35 or above or a little under 7% total

Man there’s so many separations and divorces happening marriage IMO has completely been wiped off the table. I know at least a couple chicks who are leaving their marriages or relationships. They all hit me with that ambitious shyt. I tell them it ain’t what you think boo.

The central issue is the economy and that impacts us far worse than other communities. How can that be dismissed or ignored?

Also how can the skewed ratio between black men and black women be ignored in marriage rates either if you are looking for true explanations and solutions. We are literally missing millions of men? So how the hell would black women make up that difference.

Yeah I think that number is inflated because it includes older Black women, a disproportionate of whom are Baby Boomers who probably did get married in large numbers before 35. ChatGPT says that 52% of Gen X BW and 24% of millennial BW have been or currently are married.
