Him being with Mox makes me have faith in his development as a character in the US tbh. His comeback to New Japan as a deranged motherfukker is gonna be something else :russ:

He would be the 3rd champ to win the G-1.

The other 2 were Mutoh and Sasaki and their wins were basically booked to "protect" them from huge Ls they'd take later.

Mutoh lost the belt to Nobuhiko Takada in a huge interpromotional title match at the Dome.

Sasaki lost a big non-title interpromotional match at the Dome against Kawada...which made him vacate the belt and win it back at the January 4th show by avenging that L.
Their were like 6 people in the G1 then, thats like Notre Dame claiming them national titles when there were only ten teams :heh:

The one Sasaki won had 20 participants, just like this one breh :pachaha:

The Mutoh one was a very short field, true. BUT, every entrant was a main eventer. It would be like this year the tourney was only Okada, Ibushi, Naito, Moxley, Tanahashi, KENTA, Sanada and Ishii (as the only "low tier" guys, which were Koshinaka and Sasaki's role in 95') :wow:

I feel last year's had more standout matches at this point of the tourney. There have been some good ones this year, but nothing that has been :banderas:

Ishii/Mox is the only one that comes to mind, and it was pretty basic stuff. But the crowd and the intensity of that much made it better.

It's official: Naito is straight scrub status. Dude ain't never gonna get a solid reign as the main champ. :francis: :beli: :to: :why:

This feels like if Austin never got that push in '97. :scust:
Naito gonna be IC champ for life until he either leave or retire just like Naka :beli:

Same with Ishii & that NEVER belt

And Ospreay and the jr belt, and thats only because Kushida left or you can believe he’d be on his 12th title reign right now :smh:

Who would have thought it wasn't Ibushi that finally broke Naito's neck, but ol' noodle arm Dean Ambrose himself. :picard:
