TBF, In the cretaceous and Jurassic era's inhabitants' defence; If human beings died off tomorrow morning, even our tallest skyscrapers, toughest tanks, and all signs of civilization would've disappeared by the next 65million years. Hell, even those pyramids we are so proud about will start looking like curved hills after a million years.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were indeed some intelligent mammals, dinos, whales, etc back in the day. Our present day fossil record is incredibly incomplete because most creatures had to die in statistically unlikely, and highly convenient positions(in tar pits, in deserts, in petrified amber, in a perfect pressure area, in a no tectonic activity, etc) for us to find them now. And even most of these are incomplete. So who knows, maybe there was some ancient organism being constructive back in the day...
