North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
$100,000 is not a lot of money. Technically it's middle class, and it's definitely not upper middle class. Depending on where you live in the country and how many people you have in your household, $100,000 is small money. Check to Check money. And most states have shytty unemployment benefits, so if you lose your job, you're fukked.

Then you have debts like mortgage, car note, insurance, and credit cards.

A person making 100k is running the same race as someone making 40k. The only difference is one pays more money for the shyt that does the same thing.

If you make a 100k you’re fine .Especially if you’re a single man/woman without children .

If you and your girl make 100k each you’re on the moon.

The problem is that the person that makes 100k doesn’t live like he makes 100K. nikkas be having 40-50K whips and then say they struggling . The 40K person is NOT in the same race as a 100K nikka.

C’mon fam.

I literally said depending on where you live and how many people are in the household :mjlol:

If you’re single making 100k in the tri-state area, you’re gonna want to live in a Nice place. So in NJ 100k is $1400 a week after taxes. A nice apartment is $1900 - $3000 a month.

At the end of the day it comes down to how well you budget your money. I know people that will simply blow it on bullshyt.

I feel very blessed to make the salary I make.

To see something like this is humbling and saddening at the same time.

For perspective:
Few people in my immediate circle are touching 100k+.
My mentors (which are black) and the girl I date (who is black) are the only
folks in my actual circle who are making 100k+ a year.
Everyone else is just scraping by OR living below the poverty line.

I want to solidify my wealth and get right because I don't think our country will ever change
so if I can solidify a couple million for my children and instill the importance of preserving wealth
into them, I will consider my job done.

I know it's cool to :duck: on the Coli and pretend to have money but this shyt just upsets me tbh.

I disagree that 40k and 100k is essentially the same but overall you are right. 100k isn't that much in DC, NYC, LA, Miami, and even in southern cities like Atlanta and Austin.

prolly less than 20% of all Americans make $100k+

Most of us are in bubbles. Average salary in this country is like $50k
you're correct. according to google AI:

According to 2023 data from Zippia, 18% of individual Americans make more than $100,000 a year. However, when looking at households, over 34% of American households made over $100,000 in 2022, putting them in the top 24% of the US population.

People don’t realize $60,000 is the middle class. Most people in America make about $75,000 a year. :manny:
The middle class barely exists in 2024

Most people live paycheck to paycheck, can’t save, have no emergency fund, have thousands in credit card debt, barely take vacations or can pay medical bills

60K is poor. That’s about 2000 dollars every two weeks. After rent or a mortgage you already close to 50% of your monthly take home in any decent living space then gotta stretch the other 2 grand to do everything else. God forbid something extra comes up and ruins your budget. Its almost impossible to be financially stable on that salary without help somewhere

Edit: For a starting salary in your 20s, great start, but again help is needed somewhere
