Not a month goes by that I don't contemplate pulling up on a co-worker in the parking lot for talking slick.

I be almost a saint at my job. The amount of times I have to hold my tongue and not punch someone in the mouth.

Speaking of, I implemented some functionality at someone's request a couple weeks ago. Earlier this hour, dude comes back questioning the functionality as if it wasn't exactly what he asked for :dahell:

Anybody ever dealt with non-compete contracts before?

I work in software, same industry about 7-8 years, got an offer from another company in my employer’s industry. Vertical move, great opportunity, but I’m a little worried about my company trying to enforce the non-compete I signed. Wondering if anybody else has had experiences or dealt with this directly before?

Never dealt with it. But how long is the non-compete for?

How would they know you're going to a competitor? I laugh in their face when companies bring it during exit interviews. Because I'm not telling you which company I'm going to next.

It’s annoying to go through multiple interviews just to get a denial email. Maybe I should stop telling them I’m interviewing with other companies. I also tell them my salary expectation are a lot higher than their initial offer.

I took the last week of the year off; 12/23-1/2 to be exact. 11 days altogether, 7 business days, but 2 are company holidays so it only ate 5 days of PTO. When I worked for the State Government, I lowkey envied people that did that. LOL, I was the one that worked during holidays because it was quiet. Commuting an hour to sit with 3 people.

I need to schedule this Qlik BA cert exam already. Paying the money is the only way to motivate me at this point. I keep talking about and it's probably because I'm scared to fail. I failed the Data architect one last year, but I also didn't study well enough, I definitely missed a FEW topics. The BA "appears" easier, but I don't want to underestimate again and end up sad :heh:

I always thought telling them was a good thing, because if they really like you, you’ll hear something within 24-48 hours

When you interview at a company they aren't just interviewing you but you are also interviewing them back.

Work Culture > A Higher pay check
Yep the biggest thing I look for a laid back environment where there’s no micromanaging.

I’ll take less than to get paid more and be micromanaged.

Companies are like women, they like people that other companies like. Most companies worth working for want to hire the "in-demand" candidate. Even if I'm not, I also say that I am interviewing with other companies. Helps speed up their decision making as well.

@Obreh Winfrey been doing this for years :dead:

I don't get quiet quitting.

I'm just getting paid to do nothing.

I'm convinced most people do this, even when they're in an office setting.

I remember when I worked in an office. All my work for a week could be completed within a day or two.

Most of this so called "quiet quitting" is just enforcing a healthy work life balance. fukk I look like answering calls and messages after the work day is over? Somebody's bytch, that's what. Up until recently I was paid below market (still am in many respects) so I had less incentive to be at somebody's beck and call. Now I'm just jaded enough to know better.

They talked about employees not wanting to go above and beyond. If there's no reason to, why do it? I did 3 years in the top performance rating, putting out work that out the seniors to shame, and I barely got raises beyond what everyone else got. They need to start asking themselves what makes an employee want to do exceptional work, and how do they continue to provide that so that they will.
