My pay raise went thru. :blessed::win:

So in October the company was sending out the employee reviews, I got a 3 out of 5. Not good enough for promotion still. And they were processing the annual pay raises based on evaluations. I just printed a copy of the last paycheck and saw I went up from 13.37 to 13.71. Now I know that's nothing to brag about. :troll: But I do have over 8 weeks of unused and frozen banked vacation that is going to be paid out so the extra raise helps some. My calculations gave me $4556 but that's not withstanding taxes. I should be getting maybe 4200 atleast. :wow:
I quit at the right time. Right after pay raises and right before the stress of the holidays. And to think I was gonna take the rest of the year off since I had saved enough. But now I'm getting this nice bonus check plus got another higher playing job starting in a month. :ohlawd:

Ima take this 4k and buy me the Samsung watch I've been wanting, get me a Nintendo switch, maybe a new phone or might wait for the galaxy 9, throw some into Forex, buy a few hundred dollars worth of bitcoin, save atleast half and maybe get some random backpage hoes with the rest. Long as it's cheap cuz I ain't trying to blow all my money now. :francis:

Compensation Myths: Burger Flipper Vs. Investment Banker
A quick article that shows how it pays to run the numbers in regards to your wages/salary and working hours. Your salary might have gone up but your working hours may have gone up even more meaning you're getting paid less for more work.
This this this! before i didnt care about this but now i see it after getting my second job the amount of work im doing right now im basically getting free money

Basically have a dilemma and need some unbiased opinion from my coli brehs:myman:. left out some details as i dont want to expose myself.

*i live in Europe so some things you might suggest might not apply to me*

So im in my 3 of 4 year in college studying an IT/business related degree at a good college and have to go work as an intern during my second semester this year. I was lucky enough to land an unskilled job at one of the top 4 tech companies as a contractor working nights 6-2am and im basically earning graduate money right now :wow: and i do this while going college during the day. the job is super easy and the environment could not be better no joke free sacks and food everyday however im not learning anything as the job is unskilled and im not using anything from my degree. The company is expanding in the city so i hope to be able to slide into one of the proper jobs later, already slid into one of the college recruiters email:youngsabo:.

when searching for an internship we do it through my college long story short the people with good grades(mine were ok) are getting picked up for interviews left and center while people like me are getting left to the :trash:. The jobs are also mostly minimum wage

should i pick situation A or b?

A: Stay at the current company stack my money while improving my programming skills in my own time and also graduate college potentially debt free and potentially switch over to a permanent employee with a proper position later

B:Hope i land a good internship where i can learn something and actually use what i have been learning and take the money loss for now.

already asked my family and im getting different opinions but i want to hear unbiased opinions

Honestly I don't know how B is even an option. Take the internship and prove to them that you are valuable asset so that they are willing to offer you a full time position once you graduate. If programming is what you want to do, you will find some way to improve your skills even with going to school and working.

because im slightly worried im going to be graduating college with no "real" experience. and me getting a full time position later in option A is not guaranteed the company is a top 4 so compition is crazy. And if im staying at option A it wont be an internship i will just be continuing basically doing what im doing now, i did apply for a proper internship in the company for a proper position but that in the summer and again im not sure if i will get it because of the competition. im going to student center tomorrow to ask for advice

and programming is not really what i want to do thats why i picked this degree and not traditional computer sci but from the little i've seen now from this industry you HAVE to have some type of programming and sql skills , if you dont you will be stuck in second tier jobs and salary.

Won't be stuck in second tier jobs but more and more positions are requiring some kind of programming/scripting skills. Do you know what it is in IT that you want to do?

Got my vacation payout today. Almost 3 grand. Thought it'd be more but they took like 1200 in taxes. :francis:

It's cool tho. I'll likely get some back during tax return plus atleast I got a decent amount. Already started using up some money. Paid some money towards my amex, still gonna spend on it but I keep the balance low. Threw $200 into bitcoin, light work but just something to get my feet wet. And put in $250 into forex cuz they were offering a $50 credit for that minimum amount. Might swing by best buy and take advantage of a credit card offer on a switch. Throw some money into savings also so I can stay focused on that goal.

a..easily...why rock the boat if you are in an extraordinary place financially..dont intentionally put yourself in struggle just so you feel you can apply what you learning at a job..graduate college first and then weigh your options
