My co-worker turned a zoom meeting into a bytch session and basically he's mad that he's being held more accountable for things. Last manager, white dude, was clearly letting them slide with shyt like taking days off and not officially recording them against PTO or being lax with getting tasks done. Now we are being asked to make weekly updates and have the outlook calendar reflect your day.

Being a black person in corporate is really coming in handy during these changes at the job. I've been covering and padding my ass since 18, so none of this is difficult for me. In fact, it's kind of a standard. I've been blocking my calendar off so people can leave me tf alone and status reports have been necessary at most of the contractual roles I've had. Yo was really mad he had to put in official time because he was actually taking off for the day Low key I'm mad because I put in an official day when ol boy was still the manager and I could have let that slide.

This little Indian co-worker is so "cute" and I'm not talking in a good way. I've been observing and he really treats me a way because I'm woman. When he asks me for help, he tells me how to help him but with men he falls back and listens first.

The data transfer server is missing an update and two of the services were stopped. I got an error trying to make the update and start the services, so I put in an IT request. They probably scrapped permissions from the machine, but that's for them to figure out.

Anywho, I relay this to the little Nava-hoe and he gonna asks me "Do you think Steve could fix it?". Steve is a database admin and no rights to this server, but go ahead and ask him. You're going to anyway and it will make you feel better. When he tells you to put in an IT request, you'll realize all I was trying to do was help you.

so hiring is semi frozen until headcount needs are reassessed, this is messed up as marketing stayed understaffed during the hiring spree, end of april/early last month we finally got the greenlight to hire, now everyone in the pipeline is just frozen...i'm about to lose a couple good candidates, one being a dope black chick that i and my manager are both really high on

and like that, greenlight back. spoke to a Filipino guy today who was very good. My hire black at all costs stance just got its first challenger and might get KO'd

Are you saying these guys are scammers like the "Earn your Leisure", "Wall Street Trappers" types who just sell hope and courses?

I think for this particular video the argument was these guys present themselves as representations of "black men in tech", when they actually work in human resources at tech companies and that's just not the same experience/perspective as holding an actual technical positon at those same companies.

I think i unexpectedly got an admirer in the workplace lol

i had a meeting today with one of my vendors...this was a meeting to give a broad scope to the whole team on a release that i was going to be working on for them this symmer...for the past year and half i had worked with just one person on their team, an assistant director, who helped me define requirements for their implementation into the vendor's system...anyways it was the first time i saw her whole team...one particular person, a director (the only other black person on the zoom call), was giving me those looks when i was talking...i was thinking its prolly some zoom shyt but from her screen i can feel that energy for whatever reason when i was talking ..so meeting is all good..i step away from my desk for about 10 mins..come back and look at notifications i got from linked in on my phone...i see my views and she apparently took at my linkedin profile..the only one from that meeting that did that...20 mins later she's emailing me introducing herself like we all didnt do that in the meeting ..she talmbout she liked what i had to say and whatnot and asked if she could email me or message me through teams directly for any questions she had...i said sure (she really isnt suppose to do that, the assistant director i mentioned is supposed to be the liaison)...then in the middle of my last meeting of the day she sent the linkedin invite..this is going to be interesting
