You ever talk to someone with their life together and feel like absolute shyt? Like wow, this person has really got it together, how did they do it :mjlol:. Meanwhile I’m tent shopping for skid row.
Sweetheart dont ever compare yourself to someone else...you'll go crazy...things happen for ppl at their own time....they will fall in place for you too

I know, but I’m getting old and tired. It’s hard to be behind and convince yourself it’s somehow at your own pace. I’m just venting...I don’t have really have another outlet except here. I’ll be fine, it’s just been a rough week already.

For example, I’ve been to two ATM’s this morning trying to DEPOSIT money and it said the feature wasn’t available :heh: Just little dumb shyt that takes you over the top.

so where i work....upper management is trying to cut 8 % from its FY21 budget without layoffs or furloughs so they sent an email with some reactive solutions

1. early retirement - the people eligible for it get some extra money out of it tacked on..a year or 2 worth..something like that plus some other benefits
2. voluntarily reduce your pay and work hours by 10 to a max of 50 percent for 2 months - thats a no from me :hhh:
3. take more vacation time off and the vacation pay will supplement it. - this i may explore since one more accrual this month and ill be bumping up against my max hours. i can go for 4 day work weeks for a while since i still accrue time
4 day work weeks would be clutch breh :ahh:,

I think my company may be hitting us up soon with these same types of options, however, business has started to pick up, so they may nix that idea altogether.

Been over a week and still have no building access or network accounts created. So im just sitting there watching youtube and reading articles at the new job. Why do these help desk or system admin ppl always take this long to create shyt? Its not that hard it cant be:dahell:

I guarantee it is tied to HR and not IT.

Time for yet another resume refresh. Til now I've been writing mostly every thing I've done. It reads pretty impressive in my eyes, but it doesn't read too much like a software engineer since I technically don't do all that much coding. I'm going to pull up a few FAANG job postings and try to write to those descriptions. I was telling my boy this shyt feels like when I was trying to land my first role, constant rejection, and it shouldn't be that way.

Man tell me about it. I'm still early in my career so it's kind of expected. My resume looks good and companies definitely have given me shot (some even two :francis:) but it still doesn't have that X-factor I feel. Either that or I'm not as well networked as I should, especially with this Covid drag on the economy.

the job rejections continue.
atp, besides Sec+ I'm guessing I should just do the trifecta and put AWS and ServiceNow on the side

I want a new career, but I'm also greatly looking for a job to move me out of here. i'm not going to find roles in this city. My 3 solid years of job searching has shown me that.

Have you made any Networking connections in Canada? I often stalk people's LinkedIn profiles until they send me connection requests. The easiest way to get a job depends on who you know. You should have several hundred LinkedIn connections by now. Because you never know if one of these people ends up at a company you're interviewing with for a job.

I met someone in passing at conference once and we kept in touch. Now I may end up partnering with this person on a joint venture.

You increase your odds of finding job opportunities the more technical people you know. If I hadn't struck up a conversation with this person and kept in touch. I would never known about this new opportunity.
