Project Management completion diploma thingie came in from school. I told them I wanted something that showed I completed my PM specialization courses. I have an interview next week for a data scientist role, so I'm interested to see what what's about. These job descriptions are always lit until you start getting details. Financially, I'm not doing that bad, but I'm anxious to start something so I don't get far behind. I refuse to take less than the last role either because that fukks you down line. I'm between not giving a shyt and I think I'm going to make it.

Back when I was working at Walgreens, when I was eligible I got into the company 401k. Think it was right after I had made a year. I was there for like a little over 13 years and kept throwing a little bit of money into it each paycheck. Company called Empower Retiremnt, or at least thats what they going by now. When I left Walgreens in 2017 I just rolled over the money into an IRA and started being more active with it since my new company didn't allow me to have a 401k due to being contract employee. I was able to build it up especially with great returns last year but then covid hit and my balance dropped significantly. I held strong and now I'm almost back up to where I was before thanks to the stock market starting to go back up and hopefully keep going. Empower Retirement was ok but twice within this year I had issues with trying to log in at night or weekends and having to wait a few days and just not comfortable with their security. So I have a roth ira on Fidelity that I use to mess around with individual stocks, plus I have a rollover IRA I had created when I was switching jobs but never used. So I said fukk it and moved all my money to that Fidelity IRA. Funds finally deposited this week. I like the interface of Fidelity better because I can see individual fund performance in real time instead of having to log in and refresh in Empower Retirement to see if anything had changed from the day before in total balance. It just looks so much cleaner. I wasn't able to find the funds I had before but I found some good ones. Have 12 so far and I put in buys on like 3 more for tomorrow. I had like 10 in ER. I like to diversify my funds. I still got a few thousand to invest with on there.

So I wanted to know if you guys knew of any good funds worth investing in that will give me consistent growth. I still have about 30 years to retire hopefully, unless I become rich somehow, so I got a long way to go. What funds are worth it?

For low risk, consistent gains, track the S&P 500. You can via SPY or something like FXAIX through Fidelity.

Self study is annoying don’t expect me to adult and budget my time correctly you give me structure dagnabbit

The main interruption is real estate clients, I def can’t complain but today was supposed to be a non-re day turned into it all day! And tomorrow, and Saturday...and possibly Sunday. It’s nice to think in theory I could set firmer schedules but when you’re individual client based you can’t and yeah I accommodate late/last min stuff, it’s an inventory shortage and wouldn’t benefit me to be the cause of them missing out on a home.

I can’t get past this chapter, I’m *almost* there but need to dedicate actual blocks and not multitask.

Any one taking any ADHD medications to help focus with work? I feel like I need something because I am completely scatterbrained and not as focused as I would like to be .
Rather than take medication get rid of anything that can easily distract you while working like cellphone, TV etc. It's easier to focus when you can bounce ideas off another person to stay on track.

I have a phone interview today and I don’t even know for what, but it’s not a good day. I’m all charged up, cursing out America and their Caucasians. Let me get my attitude together.

The bolded is really how it should be done. All those ADHD meds will just fry your brain over time as you develop a tolerance. I did the whole vyvanse and adderall thing a bit in college. It definitely does help with focus and getting into the zone but that is nothing I'd like to keep using on the regular, especially knowing how these big pharma companies are operating.

Best thing is to try and eliminate distractions and just focus the old fashioned way. The more you do it, the easier it'll be over time. We are definitely living in the most easily distracting time period so it's definitely easier to say than do.

A lot of brokerages have retirement date fund... you pick a fund based off your expected year of retirement. The portfolio automatically rebalances over time as you grow older and get closer to retirement. Here is what Fidelity offers if you plan on retiring in 30 years:

Fidelity Freedom Funds - Target Date Mutual Funds

Alternatively, the Vanguard retirement date funds are also pretty popular.

Yeah I seen those year based funds before. Issue with those is that they don't offer much risk. Still good to have something in them just to be on the safe side.
