Sorry that I haven't posted in a minute. Took a break from studying to recharge but i'm getting back into learning coding. I'm thinking about taking this Python developer class next year to get a cert so that it can help me find a better job. Is anyone familiar with ed2go with regards to learning programming?

I'll probably hear back from my interview on Monday with next steps. Interview didn't go as well as I'd have liked. Regardless of the outcome, I still want to keep in touch with the lady that referred me. I'd like her to be one of my mentors moving forward. Need to keep a sharp council of people to guide me forward.

It sounds cliche but 2020 I gotta get my stuff together
Not cliche at all.

I'd get a whiteboard from Wal-Mart and write down all of the things you want to start and/or accomplish for the coming year. I usually separate by work/personal/finance/etc. Hang it up somewhere where you'll see it everyday.

You'd be surprised what you'll get done.

Didn’t get to the next round for the job :francis:

Lesson learned. Always gotta be razor sharp. Start prepping months before the actual interview so that when it does come, you’re ready to go.

At this point, if I can keep the lady who referred me as a mentor then I’m good. Got vacation next week so I’ll take a good 3 weeks to decompress and evaluate 2019 and plan for 2020 through 2030.

Sometimes faliure is more rewarding than success (when you learn and grow from the faliure).

Some dreams are just torture man :mjcry:...

Anyway, I think I've hit complacency and/or contentment. It would explain why I don't do anything technical in my free time and why I haven't checked my LinkedIn in about 4 months now. I think I need to do some soul searching while I'm on vacation. I'm considering applying for this masters program, but that would see me at this company for probably another 3 years, and I don't think I want to stay that long. If I don't go that route, then the target is most likely a FAANG company, but I'm not prepared for the interview process and I'm really goddamn lazy :francis:. I have to find a way to get and stay motivated to do things that aren't fun.

The bolded hit me hard this year hence me fumbling on this opportunity even with the significant help I got from the inside. It's like trying to heat a house to 72 degrees when the internal temperature is 55. It'll take so much time and energy than if the house was 68/69 degrees.

I should have been chasing additional skills and keeping sharp by interviewing, even for roles I didn't care. I focused more on networking this year but didn't add as much to my skillset. And like you, I'm going on holiday in about a week. Will also do some soul searching as well.

My coworker sat there and gassed me all morning :beli:. We the only 2 in the office, take that outside or to a conference room and let it go. I can't be on a call getting that burning smell/taste sensation of 12 year old boiled eggs when I need to talk :scust:. MFs be straight up inconfukkingsiderate.
