I need to see pics of his head
the angle seems to convenient,
Unprotected chair shot +
bleeding on the side of the head which could very well be blood capsules +
all the controversy stirring up for this angle on social media

its seems like the perfect storm for a work

lets not forget Cody has old school mentality
Definitely not a work, Shawn Spears just can't do a chairshot without injuring his boss. Even if the seat was gimmicked, don't meant shyt when you get hit with the backrest.

I'd also say that Tony Khan sounding like a scared and blubbering idiot was not a designed part of this, either.

They could have did a protected chair shot with color and drama, but they went carny. Not a good look IMHO.

Didn't really enjoy the show, it was average to me, not bad but a bit of a chore to sit through. Not every match has to be so long and also sometimes it takes way too much to finish the match, it takes away suspending your disbelief. I get it if it's a huge feud at the biggest show but sometimes less is more, when you're watching the same kind of thing over and over it isn't as good, also the false finishes become less exciting because you start to expect kick outs, the art is to finish the match at the apex as a climax, often they carry on too long and finish it on a lower point than they could have had they made it more short and sweet. I give them leeway as it's their 2nd show, but I'd like to see these issues addressed.

I'm gonna be honest, I didn't watch this whole show but I saw a fairly long highlight video.
  • Private Party, Jungle Boy are very athletic wrestlers. Private Party's gear is terrible though.
  • Leva Bates had half her ass out.
  • The match with the greasy Japanese wrestler alternated between being a comedy match and a hardcore one.
  • I thought that Nyla Rose was a huge bytch then I remembered who she was. Their match seem to have a lot of botches and the camera had to pan away when Nyla was getting pinned cause she had a wedgie and no one wants to see that.
  • Justin Roberts is working there.
  • I can't believe they're retaining Tye Dillinger.

After the awful pre-show (only the opener tag match was good) it was a solid main card. No match was higher than 3.5/5 to me, but no match was truly bad either.

It's just such a shame that Omega and the Bucks are such lame indy goofs. Cody might do dumb spots for indy cred but at least he seems to take wrestling seriously and bases his matches around psychology. Omega and the Bucks are just corny dudes with embarrassing lame meme humor.

They really need to sort out the direction of AEW by the time they hit TV because there is no consistent presentation to their trashy indy shyt, spot fests, comedy matches and competition-based sports wrestling.

It'll be a long time before they get to that point. These guys are brand new at running a company, running a wrestling show, and running a live weekly show. There's going to be a lot of stumbles and 'wtf were they thinking' moments. There is zero chance they will have completely established their tone and direction with Episode 1. They will learn and adapt as they go along.

For me, it just needs to be "good enough".
