Sadly this fight has little to no hype outside of DAZN youtube videos, UK fans flying over and Eddie Hearn making it sound bigger than it really is by trying to throw shade at Wilder.
I really want to see what Eddie Hearn and Matchroom USA's plan to market is for DAZN as a whole, because as of now it hasn't been great.
-Claims that he can make fighters stars, but what has he done?
(At least with PBC on FOX you can view the fighter's story and camp on national tv..I don't think there is anything DAZN/Matchroom can do that can match this)
-With Showtime at least Devin Haney had his own segment.
(Where was DAZN's marketing for Haney?)
-Anthony Joshua is here but the only hype I see is from UK fans
(Is getting a 2019 Jadakiss to stand next to Anthony Joshua supposed to build hype?)
I will give a thumbs up to the 40 days doc, outside of that, DAZN REALLY needs to step it up in a big way, because as of now, they are on the fast track to making all of these boxers underground stars, not mainstream.
I have DAZN, I just want to see boxing continue to rise like it has the last couple of years. PBC on FOX has been unbelievable so far in making boxing THE NUMBER ONE VIEWED COMBAT SPORT in North America once again. FOX gave them the UFC marketing package with countdown shows, face to face shows and a studio show twice a damn month..replayed until people get sick of it. I don't think people fully grasp how big this has been yet, and it's only going to get bigger as the sport is in it's reintroduction phase. Just wait until the middle of the pack "stars" get built, the momentum is only going to swing up with ratings and buzz.
I feel like fights on DAZN and up and coming boxers on DAZN are taking a huge step back (not financially, but for the growth of boxing). I want to see guys like Haney and Andrade get recognition, not be hidden on a app or youtube channel.
If nobody sees you, you don't exist.
