2 of AJ's weaknesses that have usually get him in trouble is leaving himself open to a counter left hook, and getting too eager for the finish. Both of them is what lost him the fight. Why would you trade inside with a shorter, hurt fighter that has good hand speed and power?! Ruiz gave him a concussion with a nice left hook to the dome and he just couldn't recover for the rest of the fight.

Props to Ruiz but I think AJ comes back stronger, more focused, and beats him easily him in the rematch

Anyone who's the been following with sport all saw the warning signs for dude chin a long time ago.

There's a difference between being hittable and looking like life is being take out of you every single time you get hit.

He's got a Bute chin.

Yeah, he took some tough shots. Rematch in 6 months is too soon for that kind of damage.

I want to say the Olympic final, he showed signs. He was gifted that decision as well. He definitely has shown, when it comes to fighting the shorter guys like Takam, Povetkin and now Ruiz. He just doesn't know what to do with a fighter with movement and is going to make him work instead of just standing there like the big lumps. Takam, not a great performance by AJ but was at short notice. Povetkin probably would of gotten him out of there, if he was 10 years younger and Ruiz did.

From the first round last night, he looked stiff in his movement. Last night just gives more credence to Fury's bodybuilder jibes. IDK why but I think AJ over trains, doesn't look as sharp/crisp over his last few fights IMO.

I wonder if he'll leave McCacken now, just so he can get out of his comfort zone. Everything seems to be a bit too easy for him in that environment, maybe he has gone full out First half of Rocky 3.
