Cartagena and Medellín are two of the most dangerous cities in the world
Cartegena is not even in the top 10 in Colombia and Medellin is behind Cali and Bogoá, you just in here typing to type. This is why I hate these threads, bunch of know-it-all opinions from dudes who can't even spell Colombia correctly

The problem with Americans traveling abroad is they feel superior and entitled and they think everywhere is the same. They automatically think you got money simply by you being there to begin with.
I was just in DR last week and I saw brehs walking the beach with chains, bracelets, and rings on. It didn’t make a lick of sense.

Damn his life was taken over a gold chain. In Colombia the wolves are always preying on tourist especially if you stand out. Cartagena is usually safe maybe these are desperate Venezuelans who have flooded the city.
No it's the stupid tourists that have flooded Colombia since the pandemic.

I have been traveling solo for almost 20y now, began my firs regular DR trip back in 2006. I've been to too many places to count, from SE Asia (Philippines, Thailand, Malayisa etc) to the Caribbean and throughout S America. On average I leave the country about 6x/year. I have never been robbed or approached on some attempt to rob shyt. At 6'2/230, not sure if its my physique (prob not) or just that I learned quickly to never bring any extra attention to myself. Got a $35 Timex weekened travel watch, a few years old Motorola G phone and local cash I get from the airport just in case. I always have some chump change on me in case nikkas wanna rob - coz they aint gonna be happy getting nothing either

Things I've seen with my own eyes, tourist brrehito got robbed in DR in broad daylight at gunpoint for his phone (later leared he was from Puerto Rico) and years or so later, I was in a taxi in Bogota in traffic, when two dudes on mopeds robbed someone who in another taxi for his phone and took off.
Dont know if it bears getting repeated over and over again, nothing is worth your life - I once wore a Cuban link after I was already at the airport in Bogota for a flight to Cali (yes I know there was no reason except wanting to flex on the flight attendants trying to bag one lol). Forgot to remove it when I landed. Took an Uber to my hotel and of course, in Colombia the driver asks you to sit in front (uber not exactly legal). The dude couldn't stop staring at my neck - Like I am thinking I know this driver thinking of how he can get away with robbing me of this chain rn. Anyway, got to my hotel and put everything away. Enjoyed the city for a week and flew home.

It don't matter how "plugged in" you are or how "perfect your moves" are.

It can happen to any of us.

To them third world nikkas, we're all rich. That's the gamble you take going to these places and going outside the resort areas.
