Read the title too fast and thought it was asking if we would pay $50grand to have dinner with Jay Z like a per plate political fundraiser. I have already met Jay and Beyoncé before so I am taking the cash but even if I hadn't met them that money would be my answer. Some people don't make that much money in two years of work before taxes so give me the cash.
What they say

Dinner with Jay. Any small business owner would benefit greatly from a sit down with Jay, because of his abundant business knowledge and resources.

One of my goals is to attend that Roc Nation brunch.

ive been to shyt like that... if you think people talking business like that at brunches/dinners you trippen.. the most that happens is this exchange

"what is it that you do?"
"I do _____________"
"oh dope! Lets talk tomorrow or monday morning, heres my card (or they give you they number real quick)"

people are there to have fun and mingle, meet people but not discuss too much business...

youd be a fool to choose anything other than the 50k

For some reason this thread reminds me of that poster on sohh who rented a rolls Royce to go to a Fab concert in hopes to get fabs attention
At the very least, he could of bagged some thots, he could've passed himself off to girls as Fabs manager, and banged em in the car lol.

Luxury cars only cost about $1500-2000 tops to rent, if he makes $50k-75k a year thats only like a weeks pay...

I've actually been to a Roc Nation Brunch & its exactly that. Nobody is there to do business. Its nothing more than a PR & Photo Op. Most of those people are simply there to show face to to say they were in the same room with (INSERT CELEBRITY/RECORD LABEL EXEC). Its just a "who's who" event for people to make themselves look important. Most events are like that. I know people who've turned down Grammy invitations because they know outside of saying you were at the Grammy's, nothing comes out of things like that.

I know too many people who have wasted their hard earned money to simply be in a room with someone they felt could take their business or talent to the next level or provide them with resources & they've learned some ugly truths. Someone like Jay is not gonna sign you... not gonna give you any real business advice & is not gonna hire you.

The thing is... if someone like Jay has not heard your name buzzing in any of his own circles, then in their mind you haven't already figured out a part of the game that most people overlook... & that is most importantly getting it popping on your own. Talent & Business Ideas mean nothing because business minded people all understand execution speaks volumes over anything else.

All Jay would do is probably not even care to listen to a freestyle or business idea & if you shot him something even worth remembering he'd just incorporate it into himself because that's how these industry dudes operate.

All the knowledge of business & especially the music business is already available in books & the internet & there are some extremely ugly realities behind a lot of them. If you haven't figured out how to get someone like Jays attention prior to meeting him face to face... you'd be wise to take the money. Unless you're a fan & the money means nothing. But a meeting with any industry person with the hopes of them doing you any favors is always slim to none.

This isn't a shot to any who are in business or in music but its a very ugly truth. There are some real talented people out there and most of them are too good morally to take some of the unfortunately necessary dirty roads to "getting on."

There's a strong part of me that says I would rather choose the dinner with Jay-Z. Let me explain:

First, let me preface that even though my username is Hov, yes I was a Jay-Z “stan”, but that was when I first created an account on SOHH in like 2001 lol. I’m 35 years old now - I don’t stan anyone anymore.

Now, I’m thinking this is a real dinner with Jay-Z right? Like a sit down one on one, hour or so over some good food? That’s more enticing to me at this point of my life than 50k.

The most money I have ever made, the biggest checks I have ever had cut, have been because of private dinners, car rides or hanging out with “Jay-Z” like people - now, this isn’t some famous rich person, this is a man who runs 4-5 major businesses, and probably has 100 more we don’t know about, including investments out the ass. I know this because there are people I know that are not a Jay-Z that could change your life with a phone call, so I know a damn Jay-Z can.

I actually run a few businesses and have products that would make more a lot more than 50k if Jay-Z texted one or two people, and a photo with Jay-Z or Obama having a private dinner with you goes across the planet.

Being in big meetings and working with high net worth, I want to let you know that social capital goes a long way. People will take meetings with you and buy product or service from you just because you are associated with someone or have made a mini name for yourself. I’m talking legitimate corporate business, and I am talking from experience.

Also, I keep hearing people say Jay-Z wouldn’t talk business with you, but every successful human I know, stuff just comes up. No, you don’t pitch your damn business idea to Jay and push your mixtape on the side as well, but when the discussion about life, goals, your job or your day comes up, JayZ-like people (people who have money, clout and are super connected) always like connecting people - thats how they stay on top. Not just taking, but giving. You would be REALLY surprised.

Say you want to be a fashion designer and have some pieces. All Jay has to say is “That’s dope. Have you heard of Soho House on 54th Street? No? I’ll shoot a text to the founder Sam Watters, go meet with him tomorrow”, then Jay could forget you ever exist, but Sam Watters gets a text from JayZ to meet with you he is dropping everything to take that meeting, and then mentoring you to grow your brand, which is worth 100x more than $50k.

If you are literally offering nothing to the world, maybe take the 50k, but I think even a janitor could be like “Bro my wife and I started a cleaning company on the side, check this I will clean Roc offices for free” and Jay could be like “Nah, we good but heres Claudine’s number see what she has to offer” and Claudine could get you a 200k cleaning contract - because Jay-Zs friends are billionaires and millionaires as well.

Just some thoughts.

This I understand very well but he himself has to be open to reception which is a huge gamble. I don't have 50k in my acct so I'd rather not take that gamble but if my networth was at least 100k I can see myself choosing the dinner for the reasons you listed

People are talking like Jay will think they're special and put them on, for all you know he could think you're not worth his time and bounce. I'm sure he's done that many times.
