They definitely cared to make hitsIt’s because 50 is basically a pop star. Those other guys don’t have that much popularity or hit records cause they never cared to make those records. Higher streaming Numbers also don’t mean much unless you think that equals good music when it doesn’t.

They just couldn't
50 didn’t ruin himself either. He just had a run. The music he was making (rap in general usually) is made for younger people. Those young people grew up, and the new young people had their own artists they were fukking with. You’re not SUPPOSED to stay on top forever. No one ended 50 but himself. Kept using the same tired single and album formula while the industry was moving towards a different sound. Your average rap listener never even heard 300 bars.
the narrative is some of these guys made people stop listening to 50 with diss records when thats an internet myth

The Dog Ate My Homework Theory
His antics always put him in the light more than his music. He's a C list rapper at best. I prefer his mixtapes over his past albums if it isn't GRODT or Beg For Mercy.
I don’t care about your opinion on 50 as much as the idea that rappers on major labels with a budget don’t care about “selling”
Either way the stuff he was making had a shelf life. Everyone seen the quality dipped.
That’s totally fine but never for a second believe a rapper with a recording budget large enough to buy a mansion isn’t worried about selling records. Total cop out
Of course they're not, still doesn't change the fact he wasn't in it for the art form. It was all about money and nothing else. That takes away from the music. This is why you see guys like The LOX, Dipset, Wu-Tang getting more praise. What 50 and G-Unit done was great, but their run didn't last long. shyt, even Game kept his career lasting long. He was in it for the craft.
