They could have put any other random heel in this spot though since it was an open challenge by Moxley, they set up the Brodie match the week they went live again & got a bunch of people back. They could have just as easily had MJeff accept & not backed themselves into a corner of beating Brodie before he even really gets started.

Perhaps, but I'd argue that MJF is the top prioritized heel in AEW and booked as such. He's yet to be beaten individually, and they're probably going to build him up slowly toward a shot at the top title through an angle with major heat.

What they're doing is smart. They're actually building up their young guys and not just throwing them in the main event of PPVs with no name value and expecting them to draw, then bushing them when they don't. Darby went from a nobody to a blue chip prospect, same with Sammy, Hangman and MJF. They're going to be the top guys, they just aren't rushing it. The guys who have headlined so far are established names who are ready for the position right now. Only complaint I can see is that Kenny, who is the biggest non- former WWE name hasn't been maineventing. But the tag feud with Hangman and the Young Bucks has been worth it
