Looks like Cage and Taz on some Brock/Heyman shyt. Not even mad. AEW roster slowly adding bigger guys is going to come to a weird point where the dudes like Jungle Boy start looking around in the locker room like :lupe:.

Truth be told..... the combination of our attention spans being weak and the conditioning other companies did for decades with 2-3 minutes squash matches fukk with everyone.

Some can take it more than others but it kills me when sometimes AEW has like an 8-14 min match..... the complaints come that “it’s too long”

Like some said “AEW needs to learn that EVERY MATCH DOESNT NEED TO BE 20 MINUTES”

While on this show of the 9 matches only 3 were 20+, most were around the 15 mins mark and a couple were less than 10.

So what are folks really complaining about?:russ:

Cody/Archer was a match built around the crowd having sympathy for Cody to finally overcome the big heel Archer. It is the kind of match that ONLY works with a crowd that's invested in the face overcoming the odds. So Cody doing a 25 minute match like that in front of a smattering of his co-workers/employees because he MUST have these "classic" matches is hilarious to me.

2 words.

Stockholme Syndrome :manny:

No matter how shytty, predictable or prejudice the E is, if AEW doesn't have Vince patented signature attached to it, they'll complain.

I see your point, but for me it's all about what's appropriate for each individual match. I didn't think any of the top three matches overstayed their welcome (despite Stadium Stampede being 33 minutes, it was exactly as long as it needed to be given what it was trying to accomplish), but I thought both Cody/Archer and MJF/Jungle Boy could have easily cut 5 minutes from their run times and lost nothing. Part of it is match construction (I've defended Cody quite a bit, but I'm seriously starting to get sick of the overbooking in his matches. Not everything needs to be worked like an NWA title blow off), and part of it is how appropriate the match is for the storyline (they're not really doing anything with Jungle Boy right now, so why is he going 17 with a guy you're pushing hard? A tight 12 would have made both guys look good all the same). I think they're getting better about this by the week, but sometimes AEW gets it into their head that they have to give a guy a certain type of good showing, which results in matches being longer than they need to be or doing more than they have to.

With that said, I've never ended an AEW PPV (or even a Dynamite, really) feeling unsatisfied, so they're still doing a lot right regardless. We're just pointing out a few of the cracks in the facade, so to speak. :manny:

I gotta go back and watch the Cody/Lance match.... cuz I’m not exactly sure what was so over booked in his match that maybe fans like you didn’t like. Same with the MJF/JB match.

I guess here’s my thinking when I hear complaints about the Cody matches. I’m like, they giving that fanbase what they want why they complaining? Cuz on the flipside of it, my fanbase would be completely fine and happy with 2 hour shows and 3 hour PPV of nonstop flipfest fukkery and could care less about a headlock or working the wrist technical or minor brawl shyt.

Most of the guys on their roster are flippy guys and I think Cody atleast brings a balance with the big match feel, traditional feuds and slower paced epic shyt.

I understand what you’re trynna say, but take him and guys like him away and then we’re going to get a product that I would 200% love but then others would then really hate and sound like old men stuck in the 80s

If I had it my way.... every match would be Prince Puma vs Fenix spectacles mixed with Cage vs Angelico:mjlol::russ:

But I respect what others bring for that balance:ehh:

Looks like Marty Scurll is coming into AEW on a Jeff Cobb like scenario IMO. No way they film something with him for BTE when they're supposed to be social distancing if he wasn't tested and being added to the crew in Jacksonville.
