Why wouldn't he be? Straight from his own words he said he wants to be a hero with more involvement & has made it no secret.

They can recast Heimdall. The recasted Bruce Banner & James Rhodes.

:why: Because he's already part of a pre-existing franchise that would automatically be interconnected with a Black Panther franchise/character due to it being in the same universe. Ruffalo and Cheadle weren't already cast as pre-existing characters in the universe when they joined.

It doesn't matter

If an opportunity comes up to play another character within the same universe, & Marvel feels he's a good choice, they will switch him to a different character & have another mufukka play as Heimdall.

Reality is Elba's name is attached to every black character mentioned nowadays & he'll be stuck playing Heimdall anyway

I'm calling :duck: On that entire story. There are no official plans for a Black Panther movie and considering the way Marvel likes to announce stuff years beforehand we would have heard about it already.
The only thing from Marvel's Phase 3 that has been announced is the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy.

ant-man is phase 3

elba elba elba!

honestly i think jordan gets it considering his age

I like MBJ..... Just not for this..... Don't think he's ready for a Superhero movie.

And Idris? I thought cats wanted him to be GL?? Or has the Rock been solidly confirmed??

Either way, Id prefer the other 2 options

It's a business. Any time a significant black character is brought up, Idris will get consideration.

They've met with him in the past about playing Luke Cage, as a recently as last year.

Sliding Idris to another character is not gonna hurt Marvel's cinematic universe.

You believing Marvel would be opposed to the idea doesn't make much sense.

MBJ is just being brought up only because he's popular right now. I like the dude, but he hasn't done anything thus far that leads me to believe he would make a good T'Challa. Also, he still has a very youthful look/demeanor. He would look like a teenager amongst Evans, RDJ, Ruffalo, and the like. He would be great for a young apprentice or sidekick role. Johnny Storm is an apt part for him. He would also be a good Cyborg or Static.

That was before he signed up to play Heimdall.

There was talk about Luke Cage at one time — I thought Luke Cage was a pretty interesting character,” he said. “They were going to do it, but I don’t know what happened.

Marvel don't go for "go to" actors to play their heroes, their casting is left field, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Downey as Ant-Man, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill etc. The only reason why Elba's name is being floated around is because he's become one of Hollywood's "go to" Black actors, because you know they're only four Black actors working in Hollywood at the moment Jordan, Elba, Efijor and to an extent Boseman:heh:.

Elba has been a somewhat prominent character in the Thor franchise, which has gone as far as his character being plastered on posters and being given big action scenes, in order to be noticed. He is Heimdall and it will stay that way. Two characters who look exactly the same popping up in two different franchises which are interconnected will "hurt" the MCU.

isn't mbj gonna be in the new fantastic four?...if so, yall can cross him off the list...no way in hell fox gonna let that shyt happen...and idris is already in thor, marvel not gonna make that switch...2 reasons why not: 1) money....he's gonna want more if he plays bp, and marvel not going for that shyt...they'd do him like they did terrance howard cause 'blacks can be replaced'...2) they've already established him in thor...if they were gonna make that switch, they would've done it after thor 1, and not put him in another movie...

...at this point, think marvel and folks just like throwing the same actor's names out there to keep the people at bay about making a bp movie...seriously, guardians and ant man got movies in production before bp, that should let people know...

Michael B. Jordan is primed to blow the fukk up after Fruitvale Station. He's been rumored for every conceiveable Black male part in blockbusters from Star Wars Episode 7 to The Independence Day Sequel. That said I don't know if he has quite the right "look" for T'Challa and I mean this in the sense that T'Challa is a King in every sense of the word. Michael B. can pull off swag effortlessly but can he pull off Regality is the question. Chiwetol Ejiofor and Idris Elba have the gravitas to exude the absolute confidence and self determination required for Black Panther, MBJ mostly has a cocky charm about him, which is why I'm sure they want him for Johnny Storm (although I think it's a terrible idea to cast him as Human Torch it's not because of him, it's because that is signed, sealed, and delivered a Cac role for a Cac actor) whereas T'Challa requires a certain sense of gravitas and seriousness.

My top pick out of the bunch would be Chiwetol, because not only is he an accomplished and proven dramatic actor, he's also been in action oriented roles and I think could really make an impact and hold his own on screen next to Robert Downey Jr, Sam Jackson, Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson. He's proven that he can shine alongside other talented actors and not get lost on the shuffle, which is one of the most important things about being cast in the MCU.

MARVEL SUPERHERO Black Panther is set to come to the big screen and top black British stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Idris Elba have been tipped to play the character with extraordinary powers.

Reports suggest the two actors, along with American stars Chadwick Boseman and Michael B Jordan, are in line for the leading role in Black Panther.

Chiwetel may be the favourite for the part considering how high his stock has risen following the release of Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave in which he plays a free man kidnapped into slavery.

The role has landed him an Oscar nomination for best actor.

Other reports indicate Boseman could be the best-suited for the part due to his status as a young, up and coming actor.

Meanwhile, Elba is already a fixture in the Marvel universe having starred in the Thor films as Heimdall.

Black Panther has not yet been given an official release date, but it is widely rumoured the story of T’Challa, who is the alter ego of Black Panther, will come out to superhero movie fans.
