  • Atleast 95 employees laid off (FTE and contractor)
  • Tatanka will be in Unreal Engine and may not be (just?) a battle royale
  • No new story content for Infinite. New ideas were pitched for new Halo games in Unreal Engine but those folks were also impacted by layoffs

Story just says the ongoing rumors may or may not be true. :stopitslime:

Halo is better off with 343i.

If Bungie was still making Halo, there would be no BR starts, playlist would be trash, gameplay would revolve around some gimmick (dual wield, equipments, armor ability, etc), red team would be winning tie games, it will take 6 melee hits to kill, grenades would be weak, BR spread would be enormous, weapons will bloom, etc.

just kill the franchise and come with something new
This is what should be done. 343 should be freed to work on a new IP and build it up their way. Halo is no longer the juggernaut it once was and this refusal to let it be put to rest isn't constructive.

Talk around Halo is so weird.

It’s obviously had some missteps, but perception of its success or lack there of is way off.

Every time out Halo is one of the biggest game release of the year, and despite peoples incessant desire to trash 343i. They’ve been very successful commercially with the franchise.

For example, in the time 343i has had Halo, they’ve sold more Halo games than Naughty Dog had sold TLOU Games. But somehow according to the internet 343i and Halo has been an abject failure while ND and TLOU are viewed as some of gamings greatest successes.

This will be the same cycle of 343i releases a game to commercial success while the internet trashes the game. They “refocus” and try again just for the next game to do the same shyt :smh:

This is the problem, Microsoft insist that halo is their mario, but nintendo hasn’t put out 4 back to back flop mario games, ever.

It doesn’t work. Try something else

If 343 is so successful why are executives implying the game a disappointment and laying off all these workers?

Halo has too much nostalgia tied to it. 343 needs to be unchained from that legacy so they can create a new product people will judge on it's own merits instead of reminiscing about the good old days and saying this new product comes up short.

Still Halo is a result of Xbox's leadership incompetence problem. It's a microcosm for the problems at Xbox Studios in general. Halo Infinite should have been further delayed but it's clear leadership couldn't help themselves then they make 343 employees suffer layoffs for their own incompetent leadership that lead to the release of a still in development unfinished product that as time went on was less and less well received.

This hands off approach clearly isn't working out. That's how we getting games like Fable and Perfect Dark announced years ago, going dark, in development hell, and rumors spilling out that development isn't working out has to be rebooted or other studios are being brought in external to the company to assist.

As someone who grew up with Halo, it’s crazy to see how poorly this series is being handled. I rather see it thrown in the vault with Fusion Frenzy, Brute Force, Project Gotham Racing and Blinx the Time Sweeper than to suffer like this.:mjcry:

Can you post the actual sales numbers of Halo 4, 5 and Infinite to support this claim?

Before 343i ever touched Halo
Just before infinite.

That’s 35 million without Infinite or the Halo 1 remake added in.

Halo 5 was known to have sold over 5 million but there aren't any definitive numbers on total sales of any of the games. Microsoft didn't release any. After The Bungie Halo games such info has been withheld.
