Humanity
there are limitations to what a living thing can be.

if an organism was the size of our galaxy it would be at a severe disadvantage.

if it sustained an injury at the end of at the end of a limb it would not know that the injury occurred for many, many, many years. information passed throughout our nervous system cannot go past the speed of light, nor can anything that we know of.

that injury could be life threatening, the time it would take for the feeling of the injury to reach the brain would take so long that the injury would already have done so much damage that death would occur...?

unless the body is so big that the injury would not matter since the body is so big and the time it takes for the injury is relative to the time it takes to register is....

fukk it.....i just blew my own mind.

They just want to find man in our image because as of now in the mainstream we are the only form of life so why not try and find similiar forms. We won't be able to find beings who dna is arsenic. We wouldn't even know what to look lol.

uhhh...maybe it's because carbon-based life is the only form we know exists and it can emerge from earth-like planets. it only makes sense to pay more attention to them.

maybe because the only empirical evidence of life that we have is the carbon based life found on earth. If looking for extraterrestrial life in the vast universe, it helps to have at least a little direction

:yeshrug:

do you suggest we just wildly guess at what other forms of life exist in space, and base our search off that wild guess?

There are no other planets with life. The bible would have mentioned it. :troll:

i agree.

just because life may take form in limitless ways does not mean that we should look for any and everything because we would not recognize it when we see it anyway.

searching within limited parameters allows for concise targets that can be thoroughly vetted and confirmed.

it's not perfect but it's the best we got.

:science:
:whoa:
I don't know why anyone would even engage in conversation about a topic like this with someone who is.... you know.... A Muslim. and a young black guy.

Maybe because the first to wonder about and explore this subject were young black guys and some of the first to make advancements and discoveries were Muslim.

lol I log back in and u nikkas are like "dikkhead, it's because this is what we know.. the holy scientific establishment says blahhhraah"

Islam teaches to not limit yourself to common understanding. Four degrees tells me that you all are near sighted.

1. Nasa discovered life forms Right in our galaxy, right on our planet, right in our nation, right in the Gay state of California.. that are arsenic based and aren't using phosphorus as a life building block.

2. The Quran and Islam teaching teach us what science rediscovers each year... Nearly anything that you believe is impossible is possible.. and the world or universe does not follow our logic thought patterns and that there are forces withing physical laws that are unseen. Human beings may die off before we discover all the particles that make the laws of the universe work.

3. Everything we though about the building block of life are changing every single year since 2009... and that is just the shyt on our own planet - A smart person can conclude that it's possible that organisms can be based on things that Earth creatures are only partially based on. Also, I've on some Nasa site or scientific magazine that if there is life based on something other than the Earth's basic shyt.... that the evolution of these things could be expedited and surpass us to the point that even if a planet isn't too much older than Earth- the beings could be more advanced than humans.

4. Even Carl Sagon speculated that astrobiologysilicon and germanium could be alternative building blocks.

5. We don't know what the fukk is out there. We are just now begining to understand the compisition of our own damn planet. Silicon exist here and it's make up is so close to Carbon- that had the big bang happened 1 sec later, the domino effect could have changed the way all life on Earth formed. NTM, the other planets in the Universe. NTM, we have no clue about the astrobiology of planets outside the Milkyway.

6. Gosh.

7. We don't know that it will be easier to find carbon based life.. And even in the mission we are directionless.. it's a wild goose chase right now. Much of what we've discovered has been on accident so it's possible to find any type of life anywhere... if we knew the blueprint to find life we would be making gains (which we arent). Several atoms and solvents that could potentially spawn life have been proposed and when you are looking for life outside of Earth, IMHO, it seem illogical to be biased towards carbon based. If we have to based it Only on bias and what we know about carbon n shyt.. then what we know is carbon based life dies quickly and advances slowly. So something based on other things may advance quicker and be more detectable.

So we should just abandon scientific practices that have a gotten us this far....and pray to Allah?

:manny:I was trolling yall about Islam, cuz it's higher learning. But scientific practices is what leads to most of my points. Lets not become nearsighted, friends.

The Cosmos
The sad part is we could be a lot further along if our society cared more about space exploration. We haven't been on the moon since 1972

The world should have listened to Nikola Tesla. We'd have a colony on the moon by now.

Tesla was a bytch, for not murking Edison. I just don't see how you could get sonned that many times and not inflict pain on a muthfukka like that. Rontgen, Marconi, watson watt, etc etc.... Tesla was wayyy too soft to be taken seriously.

Muslims don't believe, and have never believed that science conflicts with the Quran. It's really a completely different train of though and dogma than Christianity. (as far as this subject is concerned)

Either way... The great scientific minds of HL tell me that carbon based life is the only thing out here poppin.. The Mosque tells me different, science backs that up... and now science is the one who "knew all along" :heh:

Neil deGrasse Tyson made a good point when he said the only reason the U.S. went to the moon was because Russia was threatening to put missiles on there. Unless its a war, we don't give a fukk.

it's so annoying hearing things like this and we don't have the technology to actually confirm it.

Exactly, they gotta a story like this every week. "new planet with possible life, 3 trillion miles away" "Life on Mars, 3 billion years ago" :why:

Why do they have to be Earth like planets? Why do the beings have to need to the same elements we use to survive.

I can't believe we are this self centered and narrow-minded. I guess this is why God is always in our image.

I always ask this when watching programming about the cosmos. Who says all living things need the same water we have? Why do they need certain temperatures, light, etc. alien life forms could be compared completely different.
