All the good Rock vs HHH matches were those where Paul was the heel and dictated the match.
QUESTION : in the classic ladder match,...between rock and cripple ache who was the heel?

when Bret would do a backbreaker when I was a kid I used to think I know it's not real but aint no way that didn't hurt.
bret used to slide dudes off his knee like a useless side of beef.
nobody had a better pendulum backbreaker, or front belly to belly drop suplex than bret.

A somewhat Solid Matchup between two future Stars? Yes
Much more than that. New York basicallly turned on DX the whole night and if anything, you could say Summerslam was to the Rock what WM 13 was to Stone Cold. He came to GREAT heat and had the crowd going nuts the whole match but when he started working over Cripple H's leg, they started the Let's go Rocky chants and it led to the renegrade Rocky chants when he hit that Rock Bottom and did the People's Elbow which got a standing ovation.
There's not a Michaels ladder match that even remotely touches it.

during the rocknroll wrasslin gen,..the second best villian after macho on wwe tv waa bret.
bret was so mercilessly ruthless in the heartfoundation.
when, he went solo in singles.
it made it hard to like him as a face.
just cause he snatched your childhood dreams away.
punishing davey and dynamite so bad every week.
holding onto the tag titles, and never really losing them but a few times.
yet always kicking the shyt outta the bulldogs single handidly.
plus the hart foundation finisher.
was the first televised tag team finisher that had ultimo swag.
that was the first go to beat you up bully move in the schoolyard as a shawty.
the heartfoundation was why men hated pink till cam'ron!
before wwf created the profitability to show the road warriors in awa, the freebirds in uwf.
plus, the legendary greatest tag and wrasslin feud matches ever in rnr/me in the nwa on the other channels.
hbk was nowhere near bret as a performer.
i am not a big dude on bret's singles but real talk.
hbk never had talent to work the rocknroll wrassler era.
hbk lacked the realism and needed bret's realism and grit to be champion as well.
plus his tag matches were never on par with the real rocknroll express ever.
let alone the heartfoundation, either.
in his tagteam ripoff of rnr,...he could no out perform the plug in rocker jannety.
plus neither was better than morton/gibson.
if they were, they would have had a feud that could touch me/rnr.
nor was hbk ever able to pick up the ic strap and draw after macho like bret did, either.
hbk being great was vkm's homoerotic fantasy and fake false pr.
if you turned the channel to nwa.
or watched any eddie gilbert, fantastics/freebirds, in uwf..
you saw what hbk was doing a decade earlier.
he was such a poor ripoff of eddie gilbert it was ridiculous.
hbk moveset and mic work was inferior and he couldn't wrassle on gilbert's level at all.
when gilbert precedes hbk by a full decade in uwf.
don't believe me,...gilbert made sting one of the scaroest badguys on tv when i was a kid.
before the nwa,..sting was one of the scariest heels on tv!!!
all because of gilbert and how good gilbert was.
gilbert was what if kevin sullivan was way better!

none of wwf programming with hbk at the top of the card was five years behind nwa inring workrate, for starters.

Rock's best matches with Haitch were those where Haitch was the heel and led the match. Rock did a good job following tho.

My point exactly. That was one of the worst ladder matches ever. No one remembers it. When people talk about the best ladder matches, Rock vs HHH is not even in the conversation

that was the first ppv wwf ladder match with real replay value.
that was one of the few times wwf had some brutal realism worth a second look.
rock's brutality in ppv's is why in part, the attitude era was the attitude era.

simply because he was never up to snuff to really be a me draw.
