I'm watching this and it's enjoyable and intriguing to some extent- but episode 4 had some shaky moments - not overall plot related - but how the narrative was delivered.

So these dudes just tried to extract their asset from the summit in front of everybody? Like, all the opps in the room just watching you extract your spy? and then that evul shorty was just able to crawl away - shot - during the raid? :dahell:

Yeah that was dumb. I enjoyed the shyt out of this tho. Gotta say I was kinda worried after D&D dropped the ball with GoT but with these books being completed they shouldn’t have a problem ending this on a good note.

Will was my absolute favorite character. And the Coli militants should be satisfied with the breh In this one(for the most part lol)

I'm on episode 6 now - not sure if these are answered further down the show, but I have a few things I'm struggling to reconcile and I'm hoping someone here has some insights:

episode 2 - when they first got in touch, the messenger said - "Do not answer. I am a pacifist in this world. You're lucky I'm the first to see your message. I am warning you: do not answer. If you respond, we will come. Your world will be conquered."

am I wrong in reading an implication there that we're not the first "intelligent" species they've made contact with? The message seems to describe a pattern of action the San-Ti take/have taken - to the point the messenger included a disclaimer/qualifier of them being a "pacifist" amongst their people. If this is the case, and if their "issue" is an unstable/volatile home world - why not just move to one of their existing colonies?

Similarly, if we're the first "intelligent" species they've made contact with - the question still remains - they've mastered interstellar travel - why not just "move" to one of the millions/billions of earth-like/stable planets?

episode 4 - the San-Ti seem to struggle with the concept of "lying"/hiding intentions/being deceitful - partially because they seemingly communicate via some form of telepathy - moreover, they seemed shook at/of our capacity to lie and be deceitful to the point they outright said "we are afraid of you" - and abandoned their acolytes for it - "a liar cannot be trusted. we cannot coexist with liars". But on episode 5 the San-Ti say that one of their Sophons has been in our solar system for months, sent to our planet to "destroy" our science - "In place of truth, we give you miracles". How is this reconciled?

The answers to your questions would probably spoil too much for you....

I'm on episode 6 and I'm still mad at that scene.. like WTF??

-Its a good show but kind of shaky story wise. I haven't read the books, but I take it the aliens being 400 years away works better in the book than it does on the screen. Davos rushing everything and sh*t but he's literally got all the time in the world. They wrote him to be a little too smart imo.

The whole point is they don't have all the time in the world. They are more advanced than you, but admit its possible you will surpass them if you continue to advance, which is why they are actively trying to prevent that. It will take pushing the envelope the whole time just to advance at all with the Sophons in place.

Binged the first 7 eps the first week but couldn't get around to ep 8 until today. Fiya show. The characters were very well-rounded and as fleshed out as you could hope for in an 8-ep season. Didn't fall into dumb character tropes that other shows unquestionably would've gone with.

I only had minor nitpicks plot-wise, nothing that took away from the story but just had me thinkin for certain subplots y'all could've reached the same intended end goal in a smoother way, or without raising unanswered questions. Granted, some of the questions like ol girl from the ops with the super soldier strength i figure will be explored in s2.

Seems to be a popular show, which is deserved. Hopefully s2 is announced shortly and moreso that they don't fukk it up like what happened with West World and other sci-fi shows.

The acting is pretty bad for the most part. Theres zero chemistry between all the characters that are supposed to be old friends.

The lazy dialogue they were given doesn't help either. Never watched GOT but I'm assuming this is a pretty big drop off in quality. The whole thing feels kind of messy tbh.

That being said the concept is interesting and some of the visuals are cool, so I can finish watching it.
