LL winning this battle is one of the greatest lies in hip hop history.

LL technically won the war. But it wasn’t on wax…he did it by getting Canibus essentially black balled from the industry by telling people not to fukk with him.
Now why are you lying? Canibus debut album flopped, he should have never used fake rasta imposta wyclef as his mentor. It's not LL's fault that Canibus 3rd studio album was C the hollywood stories. If your third album is one of the WOAT albums, then you're fukked.
Look, career failure in one image:

You'd have to be some incredible emcee to get away with this weirdo shyt, and bis wasn't.

Canibus came out and mainstream rapper first. Don't let the dorks tell you nothing different and dude even had posters and flyers all over crenshaw.

99% of your fans don't exist :ohlawd:

That's just one of those checkmate bars that you can't overlook, it won LL the battle.

It's like Quiks bar "you left out the g cos the g ain't in you"

You just ain't coming back from that
Nah that's one of the most ridiculous/overrated lines of all time. Extra reach with the flip attempt by LL there. Canibus was the hottest emcee out at that time. LL's entire track was garbage :mjlol:. If anyone took some damage it would've been Clef and Tyson.

You know I'm a stanibus...but that line was a nice flip. Bis might have been the hottest but it didn't translate into sales. So the line fits.

Exactly what I was about to say. That rhyme hits so much harder after Canibus flopped. It showed that while he was hot, how many were actual fans willing to spend money on him.

I still think 2000 BC was great and exactly what his first album should've been but by that point people had moved on. I also hate how Jermaine Dupree was proven right. I remember when Blaze Magazine used to have new songs and have industry people give opinions. JD basically said that Canibus "100 Bars" was just too much rapping and nobody wanted to hear all of that. That pissed me off but he might've been right.

Bis is a dope MC, but an idiotic artist.

  • Signed to Clef like those gnarly beats were the wave
  • Couldn't structure a song to save his life
  • Did not blend well with the industry (sadly)
  • Rather write like a skitzo Walt Whitman over being a cohesive rapper
  • Worse business deals that would make the Monopoly man pistol whip him all over Broadwalk
Sad state of affairs. I will never forgive him for that notebook shyt. Never:mjcry:
He could structure songs though. Can-I-Bus was majority songs, none of that endless rapping. Even before the album, AIDS is Gold was another song. Whether or not the general public wanted to hear his raspy voice for hours at a time is another story completely, but he could definitely structure a song.

I'm mainly going by some of his underground after LL stuff, but for the most part...fair point :ehh:

I don't know what you're necessary getting at with that but the third album was did by Louis Lombard aka Luminati. I think Canibus said in a line to one of his track that Lou reveal.himself to be a snake.

Cool J is a vet, for a reason. He's undated in all of his battles. Against legends.

People were rooting for Bis because they liked the whole underdog story, but nobody at the time thought he won this battle. LL went on to have his first and only #1 album in the country right after this, and his career was rejuvenated. Bis slipped into obscurity and was forgotten about within a year or two. All of his so-called "fans" that loved him so much when the battle was going on, didn't even show up for dude to cop his second album. So he ended up losing his deal because the album sold so poorly.

That's an L, all day.
