I'm more concerned for the example it sets for the youth. We got 30+ year old college grads rapping about selling drugs and being a trapper. How can anyone in their right mind take college seriously after seeing clowns like 2chainz and plies.

You know damn well you had no time to trap in between playing ball and maintaining a 4.0 avg. the nerve of these cats!!!

What do you think they were doing between the time they left school and now besides being shelved on their label? If you think they had it so good just because they were smart and went to school, why rap at all? That would be hustlin' backwards if shyt was so rosy.

Diggy and Drake rap and they grew up in a great environment with a full fridge and new clothes. It's ppl that quit good jobs to start rapping full time.

I almost forgot that the coli is full of convicted felons and "real niccas" that no all about the ins and outs of the drug game and what makes a person a thug. Silly me.

Maybe down south were you can get a degree out of a cracker jack box, trapping is an acceptable side hustle.

But I'm from NYC. The Mecca. On this side the wolves don't go to college and get 4.0.

There's a difference though. Diggy was born into a family with money. On top of that, Diggy's doing songs for teenage kids while also talking about what family he's in. Diggy's not pretending to be anything he's not. Now if you're talking about JoJo then yes, it's as if he wanted to distance himself from everything Diggy's doing (especially when JoJo tried Diggy's lane and it failed for him).

Drake for the most part is doing something similar. Drake only pops off about being a fake tough guy now because quite frankly, those are the type of people he rolls with now. It's not like he's at Degrassi hanging out with Spinner. Now he's running around with Birdman, Jas Prince, The Weeknd and all those baseheads at XO. Drake hasn't been in denial of his past though. It would be a different thing if he pretended his upbringing never existed but he extensively talks about it, so at the very least, he's not lying about things in his past. He just embellishes about his present. Listen to Look What You've Done. He has a ton of songs especially earlier in his career where he's more personal about stuff

Bad logic.

Be worried about bad parents. 2Chainz ain't making kids music, and realistically, if you let your kids listen to him you need to be the one to help them understand not to put all that faith in rappers' fairytales/hood tales. I hate the argument of rappers being role models.

If a 16 or 17 yr old decides not to go to school so he could do what 2Chainz did, then he just had bad parents. There might be a few exceptions, but people have to learn to stop letting the TV and radio babysit their children.

hmm, let's see. in college, i was hustling a lot of coke. um, it took me 15 minutes to bag shyt. 30 secs to hand it off to people i was serving. all in all, probably an hour to go through an ounce of coke. didn't really conflict with my studies.

My point is that if a guy leaves college and has a gap in between reaching success in rapping it doesn't mean he sold drugs and became a kingpin in that timespan. He could've been working a regular job or living off someone else. I realize half these trap rappers never sold a drug in their life and based on experience the real trappers don't have the vocabulary to be good at rapping. Well most of them don't. It's easier for a Plies to dumb down than it is for your local drug dealer to make 18 songs making words rhyme in a 16 bar pattern.
