Gotta give Jay props. I've never seen someone do such an effective job of rewriting their own career narrative and people actually believe it.

Reasonable Doubt became an undisputed classic after years of no one giving a fukk about it. The ROC was suddenly the most fearsome click in rap in the year 2000. Ether was wack and didn't really have an effect.

People really believe this guy...

Thank you...it's like I always said, Hov was always calling himself the greatest rapper alive over and over and eventually once he sold out, the media started echoing that shyt.

Lmao at the Roc being this super juggernaut label running shyt in 2000 or whatever. Completely wack revisionist history.

There were SO MANY acts and labels out that were far superior musically and sales wise than the Roc.

Ghost was suppose to be on The Blueprint with him and Jay rapping over the Alica Keys - You Don't Know My Name beat.

I still don't know how that didn't happen :why:
is ghosts manager to blame with all these miscues over the years?

Ghost dont fukk with Jay like that. 20 years and 15 albums and you cant make the deadline once? fukk outta here
Lies. Ghost has always been reverent when speaking on jay...especially so during his early def jam days

Whenever Ghost speaks of Hov, it's all praise. Dude was asked what would be his dream collab, and he said it would be him , Hov and Nas, so I don't think he views dude how cats in this thread are making it seem.

Hopefully I get to hear one song with those two before it's all over.
this. I dunno what brehs are talking about whenthey say ghost didnt like jay

The chemistry those two had was unreal. Its like they were tryna out rap each other. They knew they knew they had to come with it for the others sake.

Hov got him on Once Again tho.
yeah man I would've liked a Beans/Jay album as much as that Mac and Brad (Beans/Scarface) album that never came out.

i agree that rocafella was never a juggernaut. only when cam and later kanye came did they have artists that could go platinum and multi plat other than jay. before that jay was the only one. but beans was a great rapper, dude to me is the closest to scarface that we have seen abd he could flow better than brad imho. jay and beans tracks classic as hell.

17. Hip-Hop got the concept for “1-900-Hustler” from the Convicts’ “1-900-Dial-A-Crook.”

18. Beanie Sigel was originally supposed to have a verse on “1-900-Hustler,” but instead asked Hip-Hop and Young Guru to let Freeway have his slot.

Anybody remember that Oschino interview years back where he was airing out all of Rocafella's and Jay's shady businesd moves back then? Its on youtube. He claimed 1-900 Hustler was a Freeway solo song and concept before he ever even signed with them. I dont know about this. Not saying O's word was gospel truth, but it def sounded plausible.

Hmm, interesting. Im guessing you talking about the "put a Ruff Rider on my dikk/bust right thru em" line right? Which was a lil clever reference to the condoms, but could also be a shot at Ruff Ryders.

But have they ever been asked about it or is there any backstory to it? I dont know if that really was a diss tho.

And the shyt talking at the end, i dont see how thats a diss to Ruff Ryders/DMX or anybody really. That felt like some in-general shyt. Same with that "that shyt i wrote with Golden Arms is a hit". Dont see how that would be a shot.

I dont know, but you might be reaching a bit.

Lol bro not to derail the thread but what if i told you ghost didnt like industry nikkas during the 90s to early 2000s. He didn't give a fukk about no Jay z or hottest nikkas at that time. Its only after he did the special delivery remix he worked with others.

Ghost is elusive, moody and if he dont wanna work with someone, no one can make him.

I know this becauee im friends with 9th prince. One day i will share stories with yall about how the clan came to be and how they fukked up the industry lol

Fact: ghost wanted to buy the killarmy name from 9th prince for 300 bucks lol

Im also the first to tell everyone here ghost didnt like action and that bytch ass bob perry paid ghost for a verse and then put action on the track afterwards...ghost didnt even know action was on the record.

When i was doing a project with ghostface son, SunGod, we had action bronson to hop on a record and i got a call from ghost people to make sure that dont happen after they got word of it. Lol. Never have i was made more clearer of how ghost feels about action.

At the end of the day, as a fan, i wish ghost worked with Jay...i love jays music...but thats how the wu and 90s music scene was, very competitive

Think about how wu management blocked shyheim from being on "coming of age" with jay z...how would have that nikkas life been different...sadly he doing 10 plus years for vehicular homicide

Sounds plausible to me too. Maybe the article just means that once it was decided to be a Dynasty track that Beans was slated to have a verse? or maybe they just wrote it wrong and meant to say that Beans was also going to be on the song, and Freeway was going to be on regardless?

Good question.

I remember reading that the "You Don't Know My Name" beat was the original beat for "Song Cry"

This just makes me remember how sick beans was... He's the only rapper that does the end every line with the same word style that I actually like.
I can't remember hearing one weak verse from dude.

Takes time to record an album lil breh

Sealy died before your article claims recording begun.:dahell:

1. The Dynasty: Roc La Familia was recorded from end of July to September in 2000. It started one day at Baseline Studios when Memphis Bleek was working in the larger A-Room. Bleek’s normal engineer, Brian Stanley, had called out sick. Young Guru worked with Bleek that day instead and called the then up-and-coming producers, Just Blaze and Kanye West, to come to the studio. Bink happened to be working with Missy Elliott’s artist, Mocha, in the smaller B-Room. JAY Z and Hip-Hop stopped by Bleek’s session later and when Hip-Hop went in to talk with Bink and heard the beat for “You, Me, Him and Her,” he called JAY Z in. Mocha agreed to give JAY Z the beat and this became the first song recorded for the album.

2. NBA star, Malik Sealy, who owned Baseline Studios, was in the session when JAY Z recorded “You, Me, Him And Her.”

Ha! Ghost is so Ghost yo, lmao.

I believe you my dude, esp about the Jay-Z part which i stated. I just dont connect the lines towards Ruff Ryders/X. Now, all three of them are some of my favorite emcees - especially Ghost & X. And in that sense they're very similar. Dont like being "industrialized".

Interesting. Lmao at buying the name for 300. Yeah, u'll have to drop them stories one day my nikka lol.

4. While JAY Z and The Neptunes were at New York’s Right Trax Studios (now Platinum Sounds Recording Studios) recording “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me),” Ludacris’ manager, Chaka Zulu, called Hip-Hop and told him they needed a second single for his Def Jam debut, Back For the First Time. Hip-Hop booked another room in the same studio for Ludacris to work out of and The Neptunes went downstairs and they recorded “Southern Hospitality” the same night.
