Ghostface killah is one of the most difficult people to get in contact with. Especially during that time...

He would literally disappear and pop back up when he wanted to...i was told this by people who worked closely with him.

You cant tell ghost what to do and when or what's best for his career.

Im sure at that time he wasnt feeling Jay lol...

Remember "the watch"

What about The Watch? Im guessing you're referring to the Raekwon line "turn on the radio all you hear is X & Jigga.." right? If so, i dont see how that was a jab or anything.

But you're right that maybe he didnt feel Jay at the time.

Soon You'll Understand is definitely my fav song on there. Probably in my top 10 Hov songs.
It's up there with Song Cry IMO. It gets overplayed when people say Dynasty is the blueprint for Blueprint, but it's kinda true. And Soon You'll Understand IMO is the blueprint for Song Cry.

Definitely in my top 10-15 Jay songs also.

Brolic... Alcoholics
Beans was out rapping Jay on damn near every track thet did together.

Jay was probably thinking he killed some of these songs and then Beans came thru and had Jay like

The chemistry those two had was unreal. Its like they were tryna out rap each other. They knew they knew they had to come with it for the others sake.

Hov got him on Once Again tho.

Gotta give Jay props. I've never seen someone do such an effective job of rewriting their own career narrative and people actually believe it.

Reasonable Doubt became an undisputed classic after years of no one giving a fukk about it. The ROC was suddenly the most fearsome click in rap in the year 2000. Ether was wack and didn't really have an effect.

People really believe this guy...

Very uneven album....strong in some points, some of Jay's best work....very bland and unfocused in others.....Never liked 'You Me Him & Her', though we now have that classic Amil story, 'You'll never see her again'.....'and I never did' :mjlol:

Dope post, thanks.
What story is that?

26. when Jay-Z mentioned having illmatic on bootleg he didn't realize he was foreshadowing rocafella demise with "thought we was all dead"

Ghost was going at the top nikkas at that time.

Hmm, interesting. Im guessing you talking about the "put a Ruff Rider on my dikk/bust right thru em" line right? Which was a lil clever reference to the condoms, but could also be a shot at Ruff Ryders.

But have they ever been asked about it or is there any backstory to it? I dont know if that really was a diss tho.

And the shyt talking at the end, i dont see how thats a diss to Ruff Ryders/DMX or anybody really. That felt like some in-general shyt. Same with that "that shyt i wrote with Golden Arms is a hit". Dont see how that would be a shot.

I dont know, but you might be reaching a bit.

You are 100% correct.

Nobody cared about an album that went 3x Platinum, had huge singles, and features classic album cuts like This Can't Be Life, and Dynasty Intro.

Dude is a clown

@me next time you talk about me, goofy.

Everybody went triple plat at that time. There was 1 big single which was give it 2 me which was hot for like a month. What was the other "huge single"? Change the Game? Song was ass cheeks, barely ever cracked the top 10 on 106 & park

There was literally dozens of artists doing exactly what Jay did sales wise, and several doing way better sales wise. In no way shape or form was the dynasty album THAT album lol.

nobody was bigger than the roc at the time, stfu

Ruff Ryders and Cash Money were just as big or bigger at the time. As a matter of fact, it was Cash Money > Ruff Ryders > Rocafella from 1998-2000

Only one popping from Rocafella was Jay....but so was Juvenile and DMX from their cliques. None of the other artists from the Roc were selling like CMR or Double R artists were though.

As far as sales went in that period (1998-2000) BG, Lil Wayne, Turk, Hot Boy$, Big Tymers > Eve, Drag-On, The Lox > Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, Amil.
