Ps2 was dope where you could play DVD and music ... at the time it made your house a full on entertainment center
I think that's when I finally got surround sound going with huge ass speakers so my experience was incredible

when it first came out, it was pretty much the cheapest DVD player you could get

First big purchase I made with my own money. Ended up having to buy a 2nd launch edition then a slim because they stopped reading discs. I ain't never buying 3 consoles in one gen again but that gen was glorious.

This was definitely the console I used the most (especially you could still play the PS1 library) along with SNES. I’m Pretty sure I’ve had mine close to 20 years and reading about all these disc read errors makes me feel like I got extremely lucky in never having any issues with mine. Granted it hasn’t been in heavy use since probably 2009 but i still got a solid 7 or 8 years out of it even after i had a PS3 and it still worked fine earlier this year when I played a few old games.

Christmas 2002 for me….LOTR: The Two Towers and Turok: Evolution (my first ever rated M game). A young breh was 10 years old

Waited in line outside in the cold to cop on release night back when I was 16. I had saved up dough and was so hype. Waited for hours only for them to cut the line when they handed out tickets, about 5 people ahead of me. I was crushed . Signed up to get the bundle from KB toys instead and got it like a month later maybe? Got Madden 2000 (I think or 01, I can't remember), SSX and Tekken Tag. Spent most of my time on SSX.

By the way I think the ps2 and the SNES have the two greatest gaming libraries of all time. I might even put the ps2 above the SNES.

Gran Turismo 3/4

I'm forgetting others. Never played the original God of Wars or Kingdom hearts, so they're not on my list. Back then Capcom, Squaresoft and Konami ran shyt.
