After 15 years, gentrification has completely transformed DC.
Rock Creek Park is basically like Detroit's 8 Mile Road :ohhh:

Is gentrification really to blame?

Be sad over cac rejection, brehs. Desire wet dog smell, brehs.

Seriously, some of yall r mad sus. Getting mad over Lohan's sex list, selective escorts, and now sad because cacs don't wanna live by us :dahell: I prefer it that way, wet dog smells nasty af:huhldup:

My opinion...

These divisions were made a long time ago in all of these cities and don't necessarily reflect on the population's racial bias;.

Also, though, I'd like to see an income/wealth map like this...
Most of those lines were specifically drawn by local politicians a long time ago (Chicago is a blatant example).
Redlining and zoning have endured thru the decades in most big cities.
Wealth-based gentrification is fairly new and less widespread in comparison. Even when a rich black person moves into a wealthy suburb, white folks worry that his arrival would depress the value of their homes. It only gets worse when he brings other blacks in.
That old shyt is still prevalent today.

I heard a story recently on NPR about the gentrification of a city somewhere in the midwest, if I remember correctly. The idea was to turn the 900 low income homes / housing units into a mixed-income community. 300 - market price, 200 low income, 400 rental assisted (middle income)

I actually like an idea like that.
