No format will make these players give a shyt about anything but themselves. They play way harder during the offseason when they're supposed to be chilling and on vacation

Player empowerment is Bron's legacy and it's ruined the NBA

yeah it's unfortunate. They want to be recognised as an all star but want to coast and just wear fancy clothing. I bet they put effort and more time figuring out what to wear than actually playing lol

Even a cash reward of a million won't do anything

I actually don’t think the format was the issue at all other than the target score needing to be higher. The actual gameplay was more interesting to watch than the last few years

The biggest issue is TNT’s presentation was a complete abomination. The good of it is people can leave their nostalgia of what it used to be 20 years ago behind and be happy they’re getting out now

Increase the target score to 50 or 60, add two more players to each conference and do four 7 man teams of all-stars instead of three 8 man teams including the rising stars
The format in my opinion was really bad because it felt like you were watching 3 quarters of action. It also gave the green light for more commercials, more unnecessary shows, mini games and more annoying kevin hart commentary + like you said TNT did a piss poor job as well, like they were forced to fill in more air time with whatever they can come up with. None of these tournament games felt good to watch due to this constant interruption.

I did not count how many minutes of actual gameplay was there, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was less than 48 minutes. This shyt was abomination.

if the reward is 1 million per player, Lebron would have turned back the clock to 2009 - he doesn't even pay for wifi

The reason tampering with formats is bad from a business perspective is because All-Star and All-NBA are incentives and leverage in contract negotiation.

Say you did an “All Snub” team. Now those guys are gonna want Allstar money because technically they are Allstars, especially if they win a game.

If you keep rising the winners prize money the bubble is gonna burst.

The players and non-basketball analytics geeks got too much control.

You know it’s bad when the only real NBA conversations are Bron vs Jordan and what team is a player going to NEXT season. Nothing compelling about the current season.

Yeah that’s why I said the target score needed to be increased, 40 works for the Rising Stars game but need more for actual all stars

Format pissed me off even more cause we really didn't get to see Wemby rock out in his first ASG

They play a normal All Star game he probably would've got MVP

That’s what I’m saying. They panicked. By switching the format. A player like Wemby was gonna come in and give effort. Which would make other players step it up because they don’t wanna get shown out by a second year player.

Saddest shyt of the night, Wemby was hungry but they keep trying to cater to others. If it was a regular format, Wemby mighta dropped 50/20/10 on em and maybe they woulda decided to finally give some effort for once

Fasho and even as a player , this format came off as completely unserious. Shay was looking at Kevin Hart theatrics at the beginning like “wtf is this shyt “ :mjtf:
