Ay, speaking of dudes taking a paycuts and gambling long term, shout out to LA mf Knight. Man is on record about the paycut he took going to NXT and leaving impact/NWA..

homie about to get a generational bag. Sometimes it really does benefit you longterm to play the slow game and bet on yourself

Bro very well about to end up one of the most popular acts of all time and it likely doesn’t happen without him losing money to wrestle in WWE’s developmental brand

Triple H was vilified for poaching talent from the UK which ultimately killed that wrestling scene for years, which is the reason why people don't want WWE to pull that shyt when it comes to Mexico, Japan, and the UK in particular

That’s the big difference. WWE wants to kill every other promotion dead. Remember the manifest destiny picture years ago, WWE didn’t want ‘partnerships’, they wanted to be the only company there is. Yes AEW is going to sign Vikingo, but they gave AAA Kenny Omega main events and all kinds of shine on AEW television.

The Indy scene never died. shyt was thriving before the pandemic.

Okada resigning with New Japan is one thing because TK would at least still have some access to dude, the way he does currently

That man would go to bed hating himself if he somehow let WWE get Okada. Him and Bushiroad probably scheming to keep dude under their collective thumb in some capacity.

Hey, even TNA could be vying for Okada’s services, and Khan might drop a big ass check in they account on some “Nah Chill on that. I’ll allow some of my underused talent to show up on Impact” :whoa:

Japan economy isn’t doing well, NJPW would do well to lean on Tony to help them get through to the next generation

Little hyperbole here no?
Nah, I genuinely believe Knight is gonna be a top name in the industry going forward. I could be wrong and he could fall off tomorrow, but with the way people are reacting to him and the way his merch is flying off the shelf, they would literally have to purposely try to fukk that off to stop people from fukking with him at this point

Man been outselling Cody for like 3/4 months now

Or n-gga's was so damn sure Ospray was going to WWE?

When it comes to international talents going to another wrestling promotion, you have to look at their personal lives.

Ospray has a partner with a child in the UK who he wanted to see more of, now had he not broken up with Bea Priestley this would be a whole different story.

No one thought Ospreay was going to WWE you goofy stan.

The second option gives them a chance with access to stars on the big shows to get to the next generation, first option is territory style liquidation

This is a good point.

Okada said living in Japan is still a priority for him though so WWE would have to make come concessions. WWE's early ratings on Abema apparently were pretty bad, like easily trailing secondary Japanese promotions bad.

Adding the biggest name in Japanese wrestling to the roster could potentially change that and would be a big boost for their local globalization plans.
